The Badlees

The Badlees are a Roots rock band from central Pennsylvania formed in 1990. They released several independent albums and achieved national success with their 1995 album River Songs. After recording a follow-up album for their national label, Polydor/Atlas, the company was sold to Seagram's corporation in 1998, which delayed the release of the album and eventually led to the Badlees return to being an independent band. They have continued to perform and produce albums independently, and released in 2013 the double album Epiphones and Empty Rooms. The Badlees and its individual members have inspired, mentored, advised, produced for, and performed with artists throughout the Pennsylvania music scene.

History

Beginnings (1981–1989)

Three students from Mansfield University in north-central Pennsylvania met while attending the school's music department in the early 1980s. Singer and multi-instrumentalist Jeff Feltenberger was a vocal performance major, drummer Ron Simasek was a music education major, while saxophonist and future Badlees manager Terry Selders was a music merchandising major. While at Mansfield, the three played in various pickup bands with names such as The Leaky Sneakers and Secret Service.

S*A*M and Sluggo

S*A*M and Sluggo was the American record production and songwriting team, composed of Sam Hollander and Dave "Sluggo" Katz.

Formed in 2005, the duo first collaborated on the popular theme song "Snakes on a Plane (Bring It)" by Cobra Starship, from the 2006 film Snakes on a Plane. Based in Manhattan, the duo played an important role in the history of emo, helping to transform the musical genre from its underground roots to a polished, mainstream sound in the mid-2000s. They were known for their collaborations with Metro Station, Boys Like Girls, We the Kings, Good Charlotte, Train, Coheed and Cambria, Katy Perry and Gym Class Heroes.

S*A*M & SLUGGO were named the 2008 Rolling Stone Hot List Producers of the Year.

Story

In the near future, life has been almost eradicated form planet Earth. Only few groups of kids survive in the sewers of destroyed cities where they are hunted by killer robots. Everything changes the day Yann, a teenage survivor, encounters S.A.M., a killer robot who saves his life instead of killing him. Yann then starts to believe that a special bond unites him with the giant robot.
