Ryan Mendez (basketball)

Ryan Mendez (born c. 1977) is the Co-Founder of Brand Legendary and Founder of Streetball.com and was a highly successful basketball player at Stanford University.

College basketball

Mendez played basketball at Stanford University from 1996-2001. He set a Pac-10 record for most consecutive free throws (49) during the 2000-01 season. Luke Ridnour of Oregon broke that record in 2003 with 62.

He also is Stanford's 7th highest career three-point percentage at .420 (178/424) and has a career FT percentage of .869 (186/214) which is 4th highest in Pac-10 and 2nd highest in Stanford history. Mendez led the Pac-10 in free-throw percentage during the 1999-2000 (63/72, .875) and 2000-01 (94/101, .931) seasons. He led Stanford in 3-point shooting percentage in 1996-97 (29/68, .427) and the Pac-10 in 1997-98 (45/95, .474).

Yellowcard

Yellowcard are an American rock band formed in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1997 and based out of Los Angeles since 2000. They are well known for their singles "Ocean Avenue," "Only One," and "Light Up the Sky." Their music is distinctive within their genre because it features the prominent use of a violin. They have released 11 studio albums, with their most recent one, Lift a Sail, released on October 7, 2014.

History

Early years (1997–2002)

Yellowcard was formed in 1997 in Jacksonville, Fla., after meeting at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. The band got its name from a phrase its members used in high school: whenever somebody did something stupid at a party, such as spilling a beer on the carpet, they cited soccer rules and gave the offender a “yellow card” for committing a “party foul.”

The original lineup featured Ben Dobson on vocals, Todd Clary on guitar and vocals, Ben Harper on guitar, Warren Cooke on bass, and Longineu Parsons III on drums. Modern Amusement frontman Ryan Key appeared as a guest, on background vocals, as did violinist Sean Wellman aka Sean Mackin. Key had also been in California band Craig's Brother.
