Russell Hitchcock
Russell Charles Hitchcock (born 15 June 1949) is an Australian musician and singer of the soft rock duo Air Supply.
Early life
Hitchcock attended South Brunswick State School. He later attended Princes Hill High School in Carlton North. In 1965, he left school to work as a salesman. At that time, he played the drums and was the lead vocalist in a band called "19th Generation". At the age of 20, he obtained a job in the division of a computer company and worked there for three years, before being promoted and transferred to Sydney. He formed Air Supply after meeting British musician Graham Russell in 1975, on the set of a production of Jesus Christ Superstar.

Russell Hitchcock is the self-titled debut album by Russell Hitchcock, best known as the lead singer of Air Supply, released in 1988. The album didn't reach the charts, though singles "Someone Who Believes in You", "I Can't Believe My Eyes", "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore" and "Where Did the Feeling Go?" had minor recognition.
As a solo artist, Hitchcock would later release several more singles, the most famous being "Swear to Your Heart" from the film Arachnophobia. Others include duets with Judith Durham from the I Am an Australian album, "De Todos Modos" with Ednita Nazario from the album Super Exitos (1991) and "Is It You" with Rita Coolidge (1995).
Also of note is the track "The River Cried", which would also be featured on the debut solo album of former Scandal vocalist/songwriter Patty Smyth (the version heard here is 12 seconds shorter), and this album also featured his version of "What Becomes of the Brokenhearted".
