Runway (2004 film)

Runway (Malayalam:റണ്‍വേ) is a 2004 Malayalam action drama film written by Udayakrishna and Siby K. Thomas and directed by Joshiy. It stars Dileep, Indrajith, Murali, Kavya Madhavan and Harisree Ashokan.

The film revolves around the Unni (Dileep) who due to financial problems becomes the renowned smuggler Valayar Paramasivam in the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border check post Walayar. The film was a box office blockbuster.

The film was remade in Telugu as Nayakudu with Rajasekhar

Plot

2004 in film

The year 2004 in film involved some significant events. Major releases of sequels took place. It included blockbuster films like Shrek 2, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Van Helsing, The Passion of the Christ, Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Meet the Fockers, Blade: Trinity, Spider-Man 2, Alien vs. Predator, Kill Bill Vol. 2, Fahrenheit 9/11, I, Robot, Ocean's Twelve and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed.

Highest-grossing films

Shrek 2 set a new record for total gross by an animated film making it the highest grossing animated film of all time, the record was latter surpassed by Toy Story 3 in 2010, as well as the 3D rereleases of The Lion King and Finding Nemo in late 2011 and late 2012 (which are the second and third highest grossing animated films of all time). On July 7, Spider-Man 2 reached a $200 million domestic gross in a record time of 8 days. On July 18, after 19 days in release, Spider-Man 2 reached $300 million domestically in another record time. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban has the highest international revenue of $546 million compared to Shrek 2's $478.6 million.

Film (film)

Film is a 1965 film written by Samuel Beckett, his only screenplay. It was commissioned by Barney Rosset of Grove Press. Writing began on 5 April 1963 with a first draft completed within four days. A second draft was produced by 22 May and a forty-leaf shooting script followed thereafter. It was filmed in New York in July 1964.

Beckett’s original choice for the lead – referred to only as “O” – was Charlie Chaplin, but his script never reached him. Both Beckett and the director Alan Schneider were interested in Zero Mostel and Jack MacGowran. However, the former was unavailable and the latter, who accepted at first, became unavailable due to his role in a "Hollywood epic." Beckett then suggested Buster Keaton. Schneider promptly flew to Los Angeles and persuaded Keaton to accept the role along with "a handsome fee for less than three weeks' work."James Karen, who was to have a small part in the film, also encouraged Schneider to contact Keaton.

The filmed version differs from Beckett's original script but with his approval since he was on set all the time, this being his only visit to the United States. The script printed in Collected Shorter Plays of Samuel Beckett (Faber and Faber, 1984) states:

Lubrication theory

In fluid dynamics, lubrication theory describes the flow of fluids (liquids or gases) in a geometry in which one dimension is significantly smaller than the others. An example is the flow above air hockey tables, where the thickness of the air layer beneath the puck is much smaller than the dimensions of the puck itself.

Internal flows are those where the fluid is fully bounded. Internal flow lubrication theory has many industrial applications because of its role in the design of fluid bearings. Here a key goal of lubrication theory is to determine the pressure distribution in the fluid volume, and hence the forces on the bearing components. The working fluid in this case is often termed a lubricant.

Free film lubrication theory is concerned with the case in which one of the surfaces containing the fluid is a free surface. In that case the position of the free surface is itself unknown, and one goal of lubrication theory is then to determine this. Surface tension may then be significant, or even dominant. Issues of wetting and dewetting then arise. For very thin films (thickness less than one micrometre), additional intermolecular forces, such as Van der Waals forces or disjoining forces, may become significant.

Runway (Transformers)

Runway is the name of two fictional characters from the Transformers series. Both are Mini-Cons who turn into jets.

Transformers: Armada

The first Runway is the name of a Mini-Con who turns into a jet. He is the leader of the Air Defense and Air Assault teams, and combines with his companions Jetstorm and Sonar to form the Star Saber. Runway is always coming up with ideas.

Animated series

Runway makes his first appearance in Transformers: Armada in the episode # 5, "Soldier". While being still deactivated, he is found first by Starscream in the crevasse in Antarctica. But hardly the latter succeeds in getting the Mini-Con panel out of the ice wall when Red Alert takes it away from him. However, the 'Bots don't yet know that the Mini-Cons of a team can be activated only when they are all together. So Runway (together with Jetstorm) remain "sleeping" till Megatron invades the A-Base, accompanied by Sonar who awakens his team-mates forming the Star Saber. Since then Star Saber becomes the longed-for loot for both the Autobots and Decepticons.

Runway (game show)

Runway was a morning quiz programme that was produced by Action Time in association with Granada and ran on the ITV network from 12 October 1987 until 19 February 1993. It was originally hosted by Chris Serle in 1987, then Richard Madeley hosted from 1988 until it ended in 1993.

Gameplay

On each show 3 contestants played against each other with the winner playing for the chance to win a holiday.

Passport Round

Two of the contestants had to guess the year that the third contestant was born by some clues including the front page of the newspaper from the day the contestant was born. Both contestants need to guess different years. The contestant with the correct answer, or the closest guess, receives 2 points.

After the year of birth is identified, the contestant is asked a set of 3 questions on that year, for 2 points each; any missed or passed questions are tossed up to the other two players, again for 2 points.

Departure Board

In round 2, each contestant, starting with the leader, is presented with 9 answers on a videowall, and is asked questions. If they give a correct answer they score 2 points, and that answer is removed from the board. If they were wrong, the incorrect guess is removed from the board, and the contestant is given as many additional guesses as are necessary to find the correct answer.
