Rune Stordal (born 8 April 1979 in Bergen) is a Norwegian speed skater.
He won the 1500 m at the 2005 World Single Distance Championships. This is his only international championship medal. He has competed for Norway in World Cup races since the 2001 season and has several Norwegian Championship medals, in the sprint and in the single distances.

Stordal
Stordal is a municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is part of the Sunnmøre region. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Stordal. The historic farm and museum of Ytste Skotet lies along the Storfjorden in the western part of the municipality. Most of the municipality lies on the eastern side of the fjord.
Stordal has relatively good agricultural land, and the main source of income is livestock. Stordal has also been home to furniture production and continues with the industry today.
General information
Stordal was established as a municipality on 1 January 1892 when it was separated from Stranda Municipality (to the south). The initial population of the municipality was 850. On 1 January 1965, the three municipalities of Ørskog, Skodje, and Stordal were merged into one large Ørskog Municipality. Prior to the merger, there were 1,052 inhabitants in Stordal. The merger, however, was short-lived, and on 1 January 1977 it was reversed and the three municipalities were once again separated.
Stordal (village)
Stordal is the administrative centre of Stordal Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The village is located on the eastern shore of the Storfjorden at the mouth of the river Stordalselva. The village of Sjøholt (in neighboring Ørskog Municipality) lies about 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) north of Stordal, on the other side of the Stordal Tunnel. The historic mountain farm, Ytste Skotet, lies about 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) to the northwest, across the fjord.
The 0.67-square-kilometre (170-acre) village has a population (2013) of 632, giving the village a population density of 943 inhabitants per square kilometre (2,440/sq mi). The main church for the municipality, Stordal Church is located in this village. The Old Stordal Church, now a museum, is also located here.
