    Salé

Salé (Arabic: سلا Sala, Berber ⵙⵍⴰ Sla) is a city in north-western Morocco, on the right bank of the Bou Regreg river, opposite the national capital Rabat, for which it serves as a commuter town. Founded in about 1030 by Arabic-speaking Berbers, the Banu Ifran, it later became a haven for pirates as an independent republic before being incorporated into Alaouite Morocco.

The city's name is sometimes transliterated as Salli or Sallee. The National Route 6 connects it to Fez and Meknes in the east and the N1 to Kénitra in the north-east. Its population is approximately 900,000.

    History

The Phoenicians established a settlement called Sala, later the site of a Roman colony, Sala Colonia, on the south side of the Bou Regreg estuary. It is sometimes confused with Salé, on the opposite north bank. Salé was founded in about 1030 by Arabic-speaking Berbers who apparently cultivated the legend that the name was derived from that of Salah, son of Ham, son of Noah.

The Banu Ifran Berber dynasty began construction of a mosque about the time the city was founded. The present-day Great Mosque of Salé was built during the 12th-century reign of the Almohad sultan Abu Yaqub Yusuf, although not completed until 1196. During the 17th century, Rabat was known as New Salé, or Salé la neuve (in French), as it expanded beyond the ancient city walls to include the Chellah, which had become a fortified royal necropolis under the rule of Abu Yaqub Yusuf's son, Abu Yusuf Yaqub al-Mansur.

    Sal, Cape Verde

Sal (Portuguese for “salt” — from the mines at Pedra de Lume) is an island in Cape Verde. It belongs to the northern group of islands, called Barlavento ("windwards"), and comprises a single administrative division, the Sal municipality. The island is home to Amílcar Cabral International Airport, the main airport of Cape Verde.

    History

The island was discovered on December 3, 1460 and named Llana until salt deposits were found. Sal is the geologically oldest island in Cape Verde, formed 50 million years ago during the eruption of a volcano which is now inactive.

    Geography

The island is 35 km long by 12 km wide. It is one of the three sandy eastern islands (Sal, Boa Vista and Maio) of the archipelago, with white sandy beaches and fairly flat. The highest elevation of 408 m is at Monte Grande. Serra Negra has a height of 92 m.

    Climate

Sal Island has on average 350 days of sunshine a year. Winds mainly blow from the northeast. However, some days do also have clouds, but they tend to be scattered and seldom bring rain. The 'rainy season' is from July to mid-October, although rainfall is still low.

    Ordubad District

Ordubad is a rayon of Azerbaijan in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Its capital city of the same name is the second largest town in Nakhchivan. In addition Ordubad Rayon includes 47 villages and settlements.

    Etymology

Ordubad is a name of Turco-Persian origin and means "city of army" (from Turkic ordu (army) and Persian bad (city)), which implies that the city was founded during the period of the Mongol or the ensuing Il-Khanid rule.

    History

Ordubad region was a part of the khanates of Erivan and Nakhchivan, which were dependencies of Qajar empire, with Ordubad forming the main town of the district of Aza-Jeran in the eastern part of the khanate of Nakhchivan. After the Russo-Persian War and the Turkmanchay Treaty of 1828, the region was ceded to Imperial Russia, and became a part of Nakhchivan Uyezd of Erivan Governorate. Since 1921 Ordubad was a part of Nakhchivan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, which in 1990 became the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic within the Azerbaijan Republic.

    Designed To Fail

    by: Red Cell

    Use your obsessive colours
    paint me in sadistic forms
    I can´t control my feelings
your naked skin - my call
And when I try to touch you
    all process signal
And when I try to kill it
    process alarm
    Displaced by illusion
I wish this picture to fall
    This is designed to fail
I wish this picture to fall
Don´t use a scene in replay
    tune in for something new
Please fade from dim to clear mind
    Your ignorance - my fall
And when I try to touch you
    all process signal
And when I try to kill it
    process alarm
    Displaced by illusion
