Rosh Pina or Rosh Pinna is a town (local council) of approximately 2,800 people located in the Upper Galilee on the eastern slopes of Mount Kna'an in the Northern District of Israel. The town with the current name was founded in 1882 by thirty families who immigrated from Romania, making it one of the oldest Zionist settlements in Israel. It was preceded at the same location by the settlement of Gei Oni ("Valley of My Strength"), established by local Jews from Safed in 1878, which had been however almost fully abandoned by 1882.
In 2005, Rosh Pinna had a population of 2,400.
Rosh Pina is located north of the Sea of Galilee, on the eastern slopes of Mount Kna'an, approximately 2 km (1 mi) east of the city of Safed, 420 m (1,378 ft) above sea level, latitude north 32° 58', longitude east 35° 31'. North of Rosh Pina is Lake Hula, which was a swamp area drained in the 1950s.
Rosh Pina (Hebrew: ראש פנה, lit. Cornerstone, alternate spelling: Rosh Pinna) was one of the first modern Jewish agricultural settlements in history of the Land of Israel, then part of the Turkish Ottoman Empire. Rosh Pina was established near the Arab village of al-Ja'una. In 1883, it became the first Jewish settlement in the Land of Israel to come under the patronage of the Baron Edmond James de Rothschild.
Rosh Pina (ראש פינה) is a lay-led independent minyan in Washington, D.C.. It meets for Shabbat morning services twice a month in the Washington, D.C. Jewish Community Center (DCJCC). It also meets occasionally for Friday night and holiday services, in addition to organizing social and educational events such as shabbatonim and parties to celebrate Hanukkah, Purim and other Jewish holidays.
Rosh Pina's website describes it as "a dati community built around a common commitment to halakha, tefillah, and equality. It was founded in 2007 as a partnership minyan in order to provide a Religious environment that that was more inclusive of women's participation than traditional Orthodox synagogues.
The congregation combines a traditional liturgy with certain prayer leadership opportunities for women, including Kabbalat Shabbat on Friday nights, Pesukei DeZimra, removing and replacing the Torah in the Ark, and reading from and being called up to the Torah on Saturday mornings. A mechitza separating men and women runs down the middle of the room. Its practices are similar to those of Shira Hadasha in Jerusalem and Darkhei Noam in New York.
Can't find no rhyme to it all
But still we keep on trying
The why and where of it all
Inside you the answer is lying
Reach in (reach in)
Find that tree of wisdom
Reach in (reach in)
Find out why you're livin'
Reach in (reach in)
Put away that shade (?) of sin
And let love shine in...
And let love shine in...
Shine, shine, shine, shine...
Don't take the easy way out
Believe there is a Maker
Don't be a body of doubt
In whom does live a faker
Reach in (reach in)
Find that tree of wisdom
Reach in (reach in)
Find out why you're livin'
Reach in (reach in)
Put away that shade of sin
And let love shine in...
And let love shine in...
A soul without love
Is a soul without meaning
And the Lord up above
He'll destroy every being
Reach in...
Reach in (reach in)
Find that tree of wisdom
Reach in (reach in)
Find out why you're livin'
