Rosaline (/ˈrɒzəlɪn/ or /ˈrɒzəliːn/) is an unseen character and niece of Capulet in William Shakespeare's tragedy Romeo and Juliet (1597). Although silent, her role is important. Romeo is at first deeply in love with Rosaline and expresses his dismay at her not loving him back. Romeo first spots Juliet while trying to catch a glimpse of Rosaline at a gathering hosted by the Capulet family.
Scholars generally compare Romeo's short-lived love of Rosaline with his later love of Juliet. The poetry Shakespeare writes for Rosaline is much weaker than that for Juliet. Scholars believe Romeo's early experience with Rosaline prepares him for his relationship with Juliet. Later performances of Romeo and Juliet have painted different pictures of Romeo and Rosaline's relationship, as filmmakers have experimented with making Rosaline a more visible character.
Before Romeo meets her cousin Juliet, he loves Rosaline, Capulet's niece. He describes her as wonderfully beautiful: "The all-seeing sun / ne'er saw her match since first the world begun." Rosaline, however, chooses to remain chaste; Romeo says: "She hath forsworn to love, and in that vow / Do I live dead that live to tell it now." This is the source of his depression, and he makes his friends unhappy; Mercutio comments: "That same pale, hard-hearted wench, that Rosaline, torments him so that he will sure run mad."Benvolio urges Romeo to sneak into a Capulet gathering where, he claims, Rosaline will look like "a crow" alongside the other beautiful women. Romeo agrees, but doubts Benvolio's assessment. After Romeo sees Juliet his feelings suddenly change: "Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight / For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night." Because their relationship is sudden and secret, Romeo's friends and Friar Laurence continue to speak of his affection for Rosaline throughout much of the play.

Rosaline (pronounced "Rah-za-lynn") was a six-piece post-hardcore band from Chicago, Illinois that formed in 2005. The group modeled their sound from early 2000s post-hardcore groups, citing influences from Thursday, Underoath, Hopesfall, Taking Back Sunday and The Bled. Over the span of their career Rosaline released three albums on various independent record labels.
In an interview with Absolute Punk, keyboardist Nate Steinheimer commented that "Rosaline formed the way most bands do, a bunch of kids in high school who weren't any good at sports and who weren't that cool, so we just played music instead". Pulling inspiration from other groups involved in the early 2000s post-hardcore movement, Rosaline independently released their debut 8 track EP We're All Just Passing Through in 2005. The band was inactive during most of 2006 and 2007 until guitarist Madison Stolzer returned after briefly joining the group Emarosa.
On April 27, 2009 Rosaline announced their signing to Eulogy Records during an on-air interview with Chicago's rock radio station Q101. The band released A Constant North for the label on July 21, 2009. Produced by Joey Sturgis and Joel Wanasek, guitarist Madison Stolzer described the album by saying: "A Constant North is always there, ya know? The album will always be there; those emotions are pretty much always going to live on" "A Constant North" was re-released on December 2009 in Japan through the major label Avex. The Japanese version included new artwork and re-mastered audio.
She said lay back I’m tired enough as it is
Stay sharp when she turns me away
And how do we get so far
From the way we used to be
Well I would rather bite my tongue
Cause it’s all been said and done and honestly
Words are just too weak
When my heart starts skipping beats
And my eyes are watering
You’ll see it says everything
So baby please repeat after me
Repeat after me
Think back when your hand would never leave mine
Tonight is the night where I put up a fight for those days
So baby please repeat after me
