Ronan the Accuser

Ronan the Accuser is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character also appears in a number of licensed movie, television, and video game adaptations.

Ronan is an Accuser, a judicial officer of the fictional alien race known as the Kree. He has classically been a villain, though in later stories he has softened into a more heroic character.

Ronan is portrayed by Lee Pace in the 2014 film Guardians of the Galaxy.

Publication history

Ronan was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1967. He first appeared in Fantastic Four vol 1 #65.

The character returned sporadically in Captain Marvel vol 1 and played an important role in the Kree-Skrull War storyline in Avengers vol 1 #88-97. After appearances in Ms. Marvel vol 1 and Silver Surfer vol 3, Ronan returned in the Galactic Storm crossover in 1992.

Ronan appeared in Fantastic Four vol 3 #13-14 and Iron Man vol 3 #14 before having a major role in the Maximum Security crossover in Jan 2001.

Stan Lee Media

Stan Lee Media (SLM) was an Internet-based creation, production and marketing company that was founded in 1998, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2000, and ultimately dismissed from bankruptcy in November 2006. In its early years, the company created Stan Lee branded super hero franchises for applications in all media. Its 165-man animation production studio was based in Los Angeles from 1998–2001. It won the 2000 Web Award for the best Entertainment Portal on the World Wide Web, but the company failed in the same year and the corporate shell has been involved in numerous lawsuits in the years since. The company has been characterized as "a sleazy Internet start-up that could function as the poster child for the excesses of the turn-of-the-century era."Stan Lee himself has long since cut ties with the company.

History

The company was founded by Stan Lee (Spider-Man, X-Men, Iron Man, The Hulk, and Fantastic Four co-creator) with his then-friend, Peter F. Paul in 1998 as Stan Lee Entertainment. Stan Lee Entertainment merged with Stan Lee Media, Inc. of Delaware in April 1999. In July 1999, SLM of Delaware acquired Boulder Capital Opportunities, Inc., a publicly traded company, in a reverse merger structured by investment banker Stan Medley, and through this reverse merger Stan Lee Media became a publicly traded company under the symbol SLEE.

The Accuser (film)

The Accuser aka L'Imprécateur is a 1977 French film directed by Jean-Louis Bertucelli. After an executive is killed in a mysterious car accident, the French offices of his multinational company based in Paris is inundated with mysteriously threatening be-ribboned anti-capitalist tracts, delivered overnight to everyone's desks. When Americans from the head office get wind of these developments, they institute a search for the perpetrator which leads to mysterious subterranean passages under the company's skyscraper.
