Ronald D. Moore

Ronald Dowl Moore (born July 5, 1964) is an American screenwriter and television producer. He is best known for his work on Star Trek; on the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica television series, for which he won a Peabody Award; and on Outlander, based on the novels of Diana Gabaldon.

Early life

Moore was raised in Chowchilla, California. He describes himself as a 'recovering Catholic' and is agnostic. Moore dabbled in writing and drama in high school. He went on to study Political science at Cornell University, where he was Literary Secretary of The Kappa Alpha Society, originally on a Navy ROTC scholarship, but left during his senior year in the spring of 1986 after losing interest in his studies. He later completed his degree through Regents College. He served for one month during the summer of his freshman year on the frigate USS W. S. Sims.

Moore spent the next three years drifting between various odd jobs and temporary work. As Moore himself recounted in the book, Star Trek: The Next Generation 365, by the fall of 1986, he was "less than a year into my career as a college dropout ... working as a medical records technician (otherwise known as a receptionist) at an animal hospital, all the while telling myself that I was actually a professional writer simply awaiting my inevitable discovery."

Ronald Moore (politician)

Ronald Armor Moore (July 28, 1925 – January 9, 2010) was a provincial level politician and columnist in Alberta, Canada. He served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1982 to 1993.

Early life

Moore was involved with fund raising efforts to help purchase Lacombes old Catholic Church for the Lacombe Legion to use as their hall in 1950.

Political career

Moore was elected to his first term in the Alberta Legislature in the 1982 Alberta general election. He won the electoral district of Lacombe defeating three other candidates with a landslide to hold the district for the Progressive Conservatives. On August 1, 1984 Moore opened the Legion Sunset Campground with Minister of Recreation and Parks Peter Trynchy.

Moore won re-election in the 1986 Alberta general election. He defeated New Democrat candidate Ken Ling to win the two race in a landslide. He was re-elected to his third term in office in the 1993 Alberta general election winning a reduced but comfortable plurality.

Ronald Moore (American football)

Ronald L. Moore (born January 26, 1970 in Spencer, Oklahoma), is a former professional American football player who was selected by the Phoenix Cardinals in the 4th round of the 1993 NFL Draft. A 5'10", 220-lb. running back from Pittsburg State University and member of Alpha Phi Alpha, Moore played in six NFL seasons from 1993 to 1998. His best season as a pro came during his rookie season for the Cardinals when he rushed for 1,018 yards and nine touchdowns. He was the winner of 1992 Harlon Hill Trophy (Division II's equivalent to the Heisman Trophy).
