Ron Tree

Ronald 'Ron' Tree (born 8 April 1963 in Leeds) is an English musician and song writer, best known as frontman and bassist for the English space rock band Hawkwind from 1995 to 2002. He also played both these roles in the reunited Steve Took's Horns in 2002, taking the place of the late Steve Peregrin Took.

History

Prior to joining Hawkwind, Tree played with 2000DS, Plato's Jacuzzi, and his own band Bastard. He contributed vocals and bass to Bajina in 2000, with Dino Ferari (drums) and Judge Trev Thoms (lead guitar), and, also with Ferari and Judge Trev, recorded two new tracks for the Steve Took's Horns album Blow It!!!, the main body of which was recorded in 1977 at Pathway Studios, London, by Took with Trev and Ferari; that album was released 10 August 2004. His latest recording venue is providing vocals and bass for Trev (lead guitar and vocals), Jim Hawkman (synthesizer), and John Morgan (drums) with Mother Of All Bands (M.O.A.B.). Tree is currently playing with Leeds-based band The Sewer Suckers, supporting bands such as My Older Ego in his home town.

Trees in mythology

Trees are significant in many of the world's mythologies and religions, and have been given deep and sacred meanings throughout the ages. Human beings, observing the growth and death of trees, and the annual death and revival of their foliage, have often seen them as powerful symbols of growth, death and rebirth. Evergreen trees, which largely stay green throughout these cycles, are sometimes considered symbols of the eternal, immortality or fertility. The image of the Tree of life or world tree occurs in many mythologies.

Sacred or symbolic trees include the Banyan and the Peepal (Ficus religiosa) trees in Hinduism, the Yule Tree in Germanic mythology, the Tree of Knowledge of Judaism and Christianity, the Bodhi tree in Buddhism and Saglagar tree in Mongolian Tengriism. In folk religion and folklore, trees are often said to be the homes of tree spirits. Germanic paganism as well as Celtic polytheism both appear to have involved cultic practice in sacred groves, especially grove of oak. The term druid itself possibly derives from the Celtic word for oak. The Egyptian Book of the Dead mentions sycamores as part of the scenery where the soul of the deceased finds blissful repose.

Ron, stage name of Rosalino Cellamare (born August 13, 1953) is an Italian singer-songwriter and musician.

Born in Dorno, province of Pavia, he debuted under his true name at the 1970 edition of the Sanremo Festival, together with Nada. In the following years he distinguished as songwriter for Lucio Dalla and others.

After a period as actor, he returned collaborating with Dalla and De Gregori in their Banana Republic tour of 1979, and issuing the LPs Una città per cantare (1980) and Anima (1982). These were followed by Joe Temerario (1984) and Il mondo avrà una grande anima (1988).

Una città per cantare is an Italian cover of The Road, song Danny O'Keefe; Italian lyrics are written by Lucio Dalla.

In 1996 he won the San Remo festival with "Vorrei incontrarti fra cent'anni", sung in duo with Tosca.

Ron Weasley

Ronald Bilius "Ron" Weasley is a fictional character in J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. His first appearance was in the first book of the series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone as the best friend of Harry Potter and Hermione Granger. He is a member of the Weasley family, a pure blood family, who reside in "The Burrow" outside Ottery St. Catchpole. Along with Harry and Hermione, he is a member of the Gryffindor house. Ron is present in most of the action throughout the series.

Character development

According to Rowling, Ron was among the characters she created "the very first day". Ron is inspired by Rowling's best friend Sean Harris (to whom Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is dedicated), but she has clearly stated that she "never set out to describe Sean in Ron, but Ron has a Sean-ish turn of phrase." Like Harris is to Rowling, Ron is "always there" when Harry needs him. The character of Ron fits many of the stereotypes expected of the sidekick; he is often used as comic relief, is loyal to the hero, and lacks much of the talent Harry possesses, at least in terms of magical power; however, he proves his bravery several times, such as playing 'real wizard's chess' in the first book, and entering into the Forbidden Forest with Harry during the second book despite his arachnophobia.
