Rock Star or Rockstar may refer to:
Rock Star is a 2001 American musical comedy-drama film directed by Stephen Herek and starring Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Aniston. It tells the story of Chris "Izzy" Cole, a tribute band singer whose ascendance to the position of lead vocalist of his favorite band was inspired by the real-life story of Tim "Ripper" Owens, singer in a Judas Priest tribute band who was chosen to replace singer Rob Halford when he left the band.
Chris Cole (Mark Wahlberg) is a Pittsburgh fanatical admirer of a 1980s heavy metal band called Steel Dragon. By day, Chris is a photocopier technician and by night, he is the lead singer of a Steel Dragon tribute band called Blood Pollution (the name is taken from a Steel Dragon song).
Internal struggles among the actual Steel Dragon band members culminate with the firing of their lead singer, Bobby Beers (Jason Flemyng), and the starting of recruitment sessions to find a new vocalist. Chris experiences his own strife with his Blood Pollution bandmates, particularly guitarist Rob Malcolm (Timothy Olyphant). During a live performance, Rob's playing fails to live up to Chris' over-demanding standards regarding note-for-note accuracy to the original Steel Dragon recordings, and Chris sabotages Rob's amplifier mid-song - a fight breaks out between the two onstage. The next day, Chris arrives at Blood Pollution's rehearsal space (the basement of an X-rated theater) to find that he's been fired and replaced with his arch-rival, the (now former) lead singer of another Steel Dragon tribute band. Rob also cites Chris' inability to create his own musical style, preferring to remain the singer in a tribute band.

"Rock Star" is a song by American funk rock group N*E*R*D. It was released as the second single from their debut studio album In Search Of... (2001). The song, the second single off the album, performed better in the United Kingdom than their previous single "Lapdance", peaking at number 15. It also became the group's first single to chart in Australia.
The song acted as a "second first single" of sorts, as it followed the group's debut "Lapdance," but was the first single to be released from the second, more streamlined version of In Search Of that featured a live-instrument makeover courtesy of Spymob rather than The Neptunes' trademark synths and electronic drum kits.
The song originally had a clip shot by famed urban video director Hype Williams, but was shelved and remains unreleased.
The song features in the films The Guard, Bringing Down the House and Blue Crush.
The Jason Nevins Remix of the song has been featured in numerous video games such as Burnout Dominator, Burnout Paradise, Mat Hoffman Pro BMX 2, and Forza Motorsport 2 as well as movie trailers for The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift and the 2004 film Taxi, and was featured in an Apple iPod advert. The Jason Nevins Club Blaster Edit has appeared in SSX3.
"Rockstar" is the fifth U.S. single by the Canadian alternative rock band Nickelback from their fifth studio album, All the Right Reasons (2005). It was only released in the United States and Canada, and has since been re-released worldwide. The lyrics feature the pretentious, materialistic desires of a wannabe rockstar, who desires lots of money, cars and women. Spoken-word vocals between each verse are provided by Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top.
"Rockstar" received overwhelmingly negative reviews from music critics and is considered one of the worst songs of all time, but went on to become Nickelback's most commercial successful single ever, peaking at number two in the United Kingdom and being certified Platinum. It has also sold 4.5 million copies in the United States.
Rolling Stone ranked "Rockstar" at number 100 in their list of the 100 best songs of 2007. Aside from its praise from Rolling Stone and popularity, the song is considered Nickelback's worst song, and some have even labeled it one of the worst songs of all time. "Rockstar" was listed at number 2 in BuzzFeed's list of the 30 worst songs ever written. They said: "If aliens came to earth and asked why everyone hates Nickelback so much, this song would be a perfect explanation. A 2008 Popjustice poll voted "Rockstar" as the worst single of the year.
