Rock Creek State Park

Rock Creek State Park is a state park of Iowa, US. It is located in Jasper County, near Kellogg.

The 1,697-acre (687 ha) park was dedicated in 1952 and includes numerous boat launches and docks, picnic grounds, camping grounds, and trails for horseback riding and hiking. In the winter, the 602-acre (244 ha) lake may freeze over, and the park is a popular spot for cross-country skiing and snowmobiling.

Grinnell is located 7 miles (11 km) to the east. The park's proximity to the town as well as a connecting bike path make the park a popular destination for students at Grinnell College.

Fishing is a popular thing at Rock Creek, Fish species are Black and White Crappie, Largemouth Bass, White Bass, Channel Catfish, Black Bullhead, Bluegill, Green Sunfish, Freshwater Drum,and Walleye. Golden Shiners also have a small population here, two large Golden Shiners were caught while fishing for panfish.

State park

State parks or provincial parks are parks or other protected areas managed at the sub-national level within those nations which use "state" or "province" as a political subdivision. State parks are typically established by a state to preserve a location on account of its natural beauty, historic interest, or recreational potential. There are state parks under the administration of the government of each U.S. state, and of some states of Mexico. The term is also used in Australia, though the distinction between state and national parks there is different. The Canadian equivalent term is provincial park. Similar systems of local government maintained parks exist in other countries, but the terminology varies.

State parks are thus similar to national parks, but under state rather than federal administration. Similarly, local government entities below state level may maintain parks, e.g., regional parks or county parks. In general, state parks are smaller than national parks, with a few exceptions such as the Adirondack Park in New York and Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in California.

Rock/Creek is a Chattanooga, Tennessee-based sporting goods retailer of clothing and gear for rock climbing, paddling, trail running, hiking, camping and travel.

History

Founded as Rock/Creek Outfitters and Canoeist Headquarters in 1987 when Dawson Wheeler and Marvin Webb purchased Canoeist Headquarters, the company became known as Rock/Creek Outfitters. The name was shortened to Rock/Creek in 2007.

In November 2007, Rock/Creek was named one of the top 25 specialty outdoor retailers by Outdoor Business magazine. In 2009, SNEWS & Backpacker Magazine chose Rock/Creek as Retailer of the Year for Best Online Business.

Rock/Creek has a total of five brick-and-mortar locations. They have two flagship stores, one in downtown Chattanooga and the other at Hamilton Place Mall, two paddling stores and an e-commerce site. In 2007, Rock/Creek opened a new store in the Two North Shore development in downtown Chattanooga. The project, developed by CS & Associates and Greenlife Grocery, has been designed with U.S. Green Building Council's LEED standards in mind. The latest store to open is located at The Block, the largest adaptive reuse project in Chattanooga.

Rock Creek (Monocacy River)

Rock Creek is an 18.9-mile-long (30.4 km) tributary of the Monocacy River in south-central Pennsylvania and serves as the border between Cumberland and Mount Joy townships. Rock Creek was used by the Underground Railroad (at McAllister's Mill, "slaves would slosh through the water to throw off the tracking dogs that were pursuing them") and flows near several Gettysburg Battlefield sites, including Culp's Hill, the Benner Hill artillery location, and Barlow Knoll.

Rock Creek (Catlow Valley)

Rock Creek is a 56-mile (90 km) intermittent stream flowing in Harney and Lake counties in the U.S. state of Oregon. The source of Rock Creek is at an elevation of 6,896 feet (2,102 m) on Hart Mountain, while the mouth is at an elevation of 4,557 feet (1,389 m) in the Catlow Valley. Rock Creek has a 269-square-mile (700 km²) watershed.
