Robert Ritchie may refer to:
Robert Ritchie is a fictional character played by James Brolin on the television serial drama The West Wing. The character is a three-term Governor of Florida and the Republican nominee in the 2002 presidential election.
Ritchie runs for the nomination during his final term as Florida Governor, meaning he first won the Governorship in 1992. It is revealed during Season 7 that Ritchie defeated Carol Gelsey 54-46% in the 1996 election, and was re-elected in 2000 with 61 percent of the vote. Ritchie is somewhat of a come-from-behind nominee in the 2002 election season, with most political analysts believing the Republicans would never nominate such an intellectually simple candidate to combat the self-named "Education President" Josiah Bartlet. Even when polls show Ritchie pulling even with the then-frontrunner Senator Jim Simon, (who is never seen or mentioned again) most of the senior White House staff didn't believe he could win. Only Bartlet and Toby Ziegler, as Bartlet puts it, "know different." Vice President John Hoynes also warns the White House staff that they should take Ritchie seriously.
Robert Adam Ritchie (18 October 1836 – 16 August 1891) was a Scottish-born Australian politician.
He was born at Paisley in Renfrewshire to dyer John Ritchie and Barbara Henderson. In 1848 his family followed his elder brother to Sydney, and Ritchie worked at a woodmill in Parramatta managed by his father. He spent eighteen months at the Turon goldfields before becoming an apprentice blacksmith. In 1857 he took over the family business, and opened a new branch at Wickham, also merging with a Clyde-based firm. He retired from the business in 1884. On 25 March 1859 he married Jemima Fergus Douglas, with whom he had four children. After her death he remarried Clara Henderson, her sister, and had a further seven children. A Parramatta alderman, Ritchie was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly in 1889 as the member for Central Cumberland. A Free Trader, he was re-elected in 1891 but died at Auburn shortly afterwards.
