Robert Joseph

Robert G. Joseph (born 1949) is a senior scholar at the National Institute for Public Policy and professor at Missouri State University. He was the United States Special Envoy for Nuclear Nonproliferation, with ambassadorial rank. Prior to this post, Joseph was the Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security, a position he held until January 24, 2007. Joseph is known for being instrumental in creating the Proliferation Security Initiative and as the architect of the Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism. He was also the US chief negotiator to Libya in 2003 who convinced the Libyans to give up their WMD programs. He also recently authored a book describing his experience in negotiating with Libya entitled "Countering WMD."

Education and career

Joseph was nominated to, and attended the United States Naval Academy (1967–1969), at the height of the Vietnam War. He earned a BA at St. Louis University in 1971, MA at the University of Chicago in 1973, and PhD at Columbia in 1978.

Robert Joseph (wine connoisseur)

Robert Joseph is a British wine expert and writer. In 1984, with Charles Metcalfe, he launched the magazine Wine International and the London International Wine Challenge, which grew to become the world's biggest wine competition. Since then Joseph has also launched International Wine Challenges in Asia (China, Japan, Vietnam, Singapore, Hong Kong, India) and Russia. He resigned as chairman of the International Wine Challenge in January 2006.

Biography

Joseph was the wine correspondent of the Sunday Telegraph for sixteen years, until 2001, and is the author of more than 28 books, twice winning the Glenfiddich award for wine writing. He wrote an annual Robert Joseph Good Wine Guide (published by Dorling Kindersley) which in 2004 was named as best Wine Guide in the world by the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards. He has judged and/or chaired wine competitions in France, Portugal, Italy, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Chile, Portugal and the USA, He is one of the members of the Grand Jury Européen, a Chevalier de Tastevin and a member of the Commanderie du Bontemps du Médoc et des Graves in Bordeaux. In 2006, he helped to launch and became editor at large of Meininger's Wine Business International magazine.

Robert Joseph (basketball)

Robert Joseph (born May 5, 1978) is a former Haitian professional basketball player who played in the Spanish basketball league system for twelve seasons.

Early years

Joseph was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He emigrated to the United States and played college basketball at Union University in Tennessee, a school which has become a haven for many top Haitian talent over the years. Joseph broke David Robinson’s single season college shot block record and was named NAIA Player of the Year.

Professional

Joseph is currently playing in the Liga ACB, which is the first league in Spain and is considered the second best professional basketball league in the world behind the NBA.
