Robert Armstrong (actor)

Robert Armstrong (November 20, 1890 – April 20, 1973) was an American film actor remembered for his role as Carl Denham in the 1933 version of King Kong by RKO Pictures. He uttered the famous exit quote, "'Twas beauty killed the beast," at the film's end. Months later, he starred as Carl Denham again in the sequel, Son of Kong, released the same year. Sixteen years later, in 1949, Armstrong played a similar role as showman Max O'Hara in another giant ape movie, Mighty Joe Young. He appeared in 127 films between 1927 and 1964; very prolific in the late 1920s and early 1930s, he made nine movies in 1928 alone. The Most Dangerous Game was filmed at night on the same jungle sets as King Kong, which was being shot during the day, with Armstrong and Fay Wray simultaneously starring in both pictures.

In the 1950s Armstrong appeared as Sheriff Andy Anderson on Rod Cameron's syndicated western-themed television series, State Trooper. Cameron played the role of Rod Blake, chief investigator for the Nevada Department of Public Safety. Armstrong made four guest appearances on Perry Mason during its nine-year run on CBS: in 1961 he played the title character and murder victim Capt. Bancroft in "The Case of the Malicious Mariner;" in 1962 he played defendant Jimmy West in "The Case of the Playboy Pugilist;" and in 1964 he played murderer Phil Jenks in "The Case of the Accousted Accountant."

Home and Away is an Australian soap opera. It was first broadcast on the Seven Network on 17 January 1988. The following is a list of characters that first appeared in the Australian soap opera Home and Away in 2006, by order of first appearance. They were all introduced by the show's series producer Julie McGuaran. The 19th season of Home and Away began airing on the Seven Network on 16 January 2006 and concluded on 1 December 2006. The first introduction of year was Amy Mathews as Rachel Armstrong in the year's premiere. Jessica Tovey joined the cast as Belle Taylor in February. Sam North began portraying Dom Moran in April. Rodger Corser began playing Doctor Hugh Sullivan and Trent Baines arrived as Macca MacKenzie in the same month. In July, Bobby Morley and Chris Sadrinna arrived as Drew Curtis and Rachel’s brother Brad, respectively. In October Jessica Chapnik joined the cast as Sam Tolhurst and her son Rory joined her, and the same month the Cooper brothers Rocco, played by Ian Meadows and Johnny, played by Callan Mulvey were introduced.

Robert Armstrong (1792–1854)

Robert Armstrong (September 28, 1792 – February 23, 1854) was an officer in the United States Army, a candidate for the position of Governor of Tennessee, and a United States consul to Liverpool. He was born in Abingdon, Virginia, in 1792.

He served as a Sergeant in the Army during the War of 1812, and as a lieutenant of artillery under Andrew Jackson during the Creek War, getting wounded at the battle of Enitachopco Creek in 1814, and served as a member of Jackson's staff at the Battle of New Orleans in 1815. In 1829, he was named the postmaster of Nashville, Tennessee, and remained in that position through 1835. He was commissioned a brigadier general during the Second Seminole War during 1836 and 1837, and was engaged in the Battle of Wahoo Swamp. He was an unsuccessful candidate to be Governor of Tennessee in 1837. In 1845, he was appointed consul in Liverpool, a position he remained in through 1849. In 1851, he became the owner of the Washington Union, in Washington, D.C. He remained in that position until his death in 1854 in Washington, D.C.
