Robbie Robertson is the self-titled solo debut by Robbie Robertson, released in 1987. The album won the Juno Award for "Album of the Year", and producers Lanois and Robertson won the "Producer of the Year" Juno award, both in 1989 as there were no Juno Awards held in 1988.

The album includes contributions from the members of U2 and Peter Gabriel, both of whom were also working with producer Daniel Lanois at the time. U2 was recording The Joshua Tree and Gabriel was recording So. U2's contribution is heard in the song "Sweet Fire of Love" which is a duet of sorts between Robertson and U2 lead singer Bono. The other track featuring U2 is "Testimony", again with vocals from Bono. Gabriel's contributions are heard on the song "Fallen Angel", which was dedicated to Robertson's former Band bandmate Richard Manuel, and "Broken Arrow" which reverberates with Gabriel's signature Rhodes electric piano. In addition, Tony Levin and Manu Katché, who were recording with Gabriel, are featured prominently on this record.

    Robbie Robertson (comics)

Joseph "Robbie" Robertson is a supporting character in Marvel Comics's Spider-Man series. Created by Stan Lee and John Romita Sr., he first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #51 (August 1967).

Robertson was one of the first African-American characters in comics to play a serious supporting role, rather than act as comic relief. He has usually been a high-ranking editor at the New York newspaper The Daily Bugle and a close friend and confidant of publisher J. Jonah Jameson, acting as a voice of reason in Jameson’s campaign to discredit Spider-Man. He is more friendly and supportive of Peter Parker and his alter ego Spider-Man as well as the other Bugle staffers than the brash Jameson. In the 1980s his backstory was explored with the revelation of conflict with a superhuman hit man Tombstone, with whom he attended high school. He later spent time in jail with Tombstone (aka Lonnie Lincoln).

    Fictional character biography

Joseph Robertson was born in Harlem, New York. He is married to Martha and they have had two sons. Their first son, Patrick Henry Robertson, died when he was only six months old. Their second son, Randy, is currently divorced. Growing up in a working-class family and being a member of an ethnic minority, Robertson seemed to sympathize with the downtrodden, including Marvel Comics' mutants, and he preached tolerance. He was forced to practice what he preached when his son came home from college with his white Jewish wife, Amanda.

    Famous quotes by Robbie Robertson:

"They think just because there's teenagers here, they're always cursing and swearing,"
"I do remember thinking, 'This is a strange way to make a buck. Travel around the world and people boo you wherever you go,' ... Night after night you just know they're going to boo. Then a few years later you do it again, and everybody acts like they knew it was brilliant all along."
"It made me look like I all of a sudden stumbled upon my heritage. It's not like that. You don't stumble upon your heritage. It's there, just waiting to be explored and shared. But what you need is a sign that somebody wants to share this with you."
"I remember from my earliest years, ... people speaking, you know, in a certain kind of rhythm and telling stories and sharing experiences in a way that was different in Indian country than it was other places. And I was really struck by this and obviously very affected by it, because it's always come out in my songs."
"I think the most important thing here is... paying homage to other artists. Everybody (is) passing the baton because there are many people who are going to be in this show. If it wasn't for them, a lot of the rest of us wouldn't be doing this."
"It all added up to something that's making me feel proud,"
"[The set's release puts an end to the Band ... for now.] I keep saying, 'Now I'm done with the Band,' ... I'm just not keen to be going back up into the attic and going into the trunks. I'm more interested in tomorrow."
    "Music should never be harmless."
"[Clapton was honored for a solo career that began in 1970. To mark his induction, he played the mournful tribute to his late son,] Tears in Heaven, ... Further On Up the Road."
"In ?66 when we were playing that music, people were flipping out with anger at that music and hated it. Then we?re doing it a few years later, and people said, ?This is the real deal, and we knew it all along."

You gone lost in the crowd
The waves of people in Chinatown
    Can't get behind this mystery
Do you believe everything you see?
Just a shadow in the streetlight
Just a shadow on the wall
A silhouette face in the darkness
I've been waiting for your call
We'll go marching in the night parade
We'll be marching in the night parade
I combed the streets like cloak and dagger
I put the word out on the waterfront
We were living hard, living fast
    Outrunning ghosts from the past
Just a shadow in the moonlight
Just a shadow, shadow on the wall
A silhouette, the kiss of death
    Did somebody take the fall?
We'll go marching in the night parade
We'll be marching in the night parade
    Oh Mary, Mary, Mary
    I'm knocking on your door
Mary, Mary sanctuary can't see you no more
From out of the past a stranger came
    And carried you away
I stood on the corner the scene of the crime
And I could hear her say
We'll be marching in the night parade
We'll be marching, marching in the night parade
We'll go marching, marching on the, in the night parade
We'll go marching, marching in the night parade
    In the night parade
Are we all living in a street opera?
Are we just living in a street opera?
Oh we'll be marching, oh oh in the night parade
Oh Lord, we'll be marching, marching out in the night parade
    In the night parade
Walking the night beat the rhythm of the street
Moving to the heartbeat of the city, the city
Walking the night beat the rhythm of the street
Moving to the heartbeat of the city, the city
    Way downtown
Moving to the heartbeat of the city
We'll be marching in the night parade
We'll be marching in the night parade
We'll be marching in the night parade
