The Roadblock

Joseph "Joe" D'Acquisto (born October 30, 1952) is an American retired professional wrestler. He is best known for his appearances with World Championship Wrestling in the 1990s under the ring name The Roadblock.

Professional wrestling career

D'Acquisto debuted on October 28, 1987. He competed in New England and East Coast independent promotions during the 1980s and 1990s, most notably as a mainstay of International World Class Championship Wrestling, where he wrestled as The Rochester Roadblock. In 1990, D'Acquisto was the subject of an article by journalist Glen Duffy published in Rolling Stone.

In 1992, D'Acquisto made several appearances with the Japanese W*ING promotion, where he feuded with Jason the Terrible. He would also wrestle for the Universal Wrestling Association in Mexico.

World Championship Wrestling

During the late 1990s, D'Acquisto competed as a preliminary wrestler for World Championship Wrestling as The Roadblock. In keeping with his ring name, D'Acquisto would carry a roadblock or a sawhorse to the ring.

Roadblock (Transformers)

Roadblock is the name of several fictional characters in the various Transformers universes.

Transformers: Generation 1 (human)

Roadblock is a human member of G.I. Joe, a soldier who has met the Transformers several times. He has appeared in Transformers comics by Marvel Comics, Dreamwave Productions and Devil's Due Publishing.

Transformers: Generation 1 (Decepticon)

Roadblock is high ranking Decepticon who is described as a malevolent master of mayhem.

Animated series

Roadblock was created after the animated Transformers series ended in the U.S., so his only animated appearance was as in toy commercials for his toy. in it he is seen fighting Skyhammer, an Autobot Ultra Pretender.

Roadblock was a member of the crew of the ship commanded by Banzai-Tron in Spotlight: Arcee.

Hooverphonic

Hooverphonic is a Belgian band that formed in October 1995. Though early on categorized as a trip hop group, they quickly expanded their sound to the point where they could no longer be described as a lone genre, but rather encompass alternative, electronica, electropop, rock, and mixture of others. The band originally called themselves Hoover, but later changed their name to Hooverphonic after discovering other groups were already using the Hoover name and to avoid any legal issues with the vacuum cleaner company.

On 10 October 2008, Geike Arnaert, the lead singer of the band, announced she would leave the group by the end of the year to pursue her solo career. Arnaert had been working on solo material for a few months. The last concert of Hooverphonic with Geike was on 13 December 2008 in Tele-Club, Ekaterinburg, Russia. It was filmed by the local MTV station and was shown on Russian TV in 2009.

On 29 October 2010, Hooverphonic announced their new single on their website. The videoclip showcased fourteen possible singers but only one of them, Noémie Wolfs, proved to be the real successor of Geike Arnaert. On 4 November 2010, the new singer was announced on De Laatste Show at the VRT, the Flemish public broadcasting organization.
