Pankow are a German rock band, founded in East Berlin in 1981. Their name came from the Berlin district of Pankow, which was once home to most of the officials of the East German government. The band's original lineup consisted of Jürgen Ehle, André Herzberg, Rainer Kirchmann, Jäcki Reznicek and Frank Hille. Other members were Stefan Dohanetz, Ingo York and Jens Jensen.
As their lyrics often contained criticism of the East German regime, they frequently encountered problems releasing their music. "Like many writers, they were among the established sizes of aesthetic subversion", the journalist Christoph Dieckmann wrote in an 1999 article published in Rolling Stone.
With the fall of the Iron Curtain and the associated open access to media outside Germany Pankow also moved briefly into the focus of the Anglo-American journalism. The U.S. American historian Timothy W. Ryback, known for his 1990 published book Rock around the bloc: a history of rock music in Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union characterized Pankow as one of two most prestigious and most professional groups of East Berlin's rock music scene, "originally showed the influence of the Rolling Stones, but has developed into a dynamic band that combines the energy of the Clash with the innovation of the Talking Heads'.
Pankow (German pronunciation: [ˈpaŋkoː]) is a locality (Ortsteil) of Berlin in the district (Bezirk) of Pankow. Until 2001 it was an autonomous district with the localities of Karow, Niederschönhausen, Wilhelmsruh, Rosenthal, Blankenfelde, Buch and Französisch Buchholz.
The village of Pankow is named after the small Panke river, a tributary of the Spree. The settlement was first mentioned in a 1311 deed by the Margraves of Brandenburg, though the "Four Evangelists" fieldstone church had already been erected about 1230. In 1691 Elector Frederick III acquired the neighbouring Schönhausen Palace from the heirs of General Joachim Ernst von Grumbkow, which promoted the development of the Pankow village.
In the 19th century Pankow had grown due to industrialization and turned into a suburb - and popular day trip destination - of Berlin. It was finally incorporated by the Greater Berlin Act of 1920. During the period 1949-1990 it was considered, also with neighbouring Niederschönhausen, the most important quarter of East Berlin, due mainly to the fact that Schönhausen Palace was chosen as the presidential residency of East Germany

[Verse 2]
Holla at a playa when you see me on the streets
I'm often traffic tryin' to get it cuz a nigga gotta eat
We can holla if it's 'bout fillin' my plate
I feel like killin' somebody when a nigga ain't late
It's about weight,fuck a few ki's move freight
And you doublin' your money if you take it upstate
Once you outta town get the prices on the pound
Shoot the number to your boy have him come on down
With a few of those who know money like y'all
All Lakers say is "Damn,y'all niggaz is ballin"
Y'all back callin' all shots round here
Used to have to bring two Glocks round here
It's about five different gangs and the cops round here
And today Long Beach's about as crazy as it is
And maybe we'll live, every ever even see it
Believe it and how they get money ain't no secret
But they gon' try to keep it from you when they see you
Learn to keep on movin' you gon' see the tables keep on turnin'
First I was destined with no paper and no hoes
Now I got bitches in the show biz glow
So holla at a playa when you see me in the streets
Don't let the green grab fool you tryin' to test me with some heat
Cuz bye bye you outta here, gone see you later
