"Rise" is the second single released by the alternative hip hop group Flobots from Denver, Colorado. It was released from Flobots' album Fight with Tools.

Music video

The Flobots filmed a music video for this song on July 6, 2008, at the Gothic theater In Denver, Colorado. The video shows a rock concert intermixed with scenes of pro-American posters and people working to make the world a better place, such as planting trees and committing random acts of kindness. The video features almost everyone in some form of American Flag bandanna, much like the cover for Flobot's album "Fight with Tools." In the video, multiple references are made to the website americawillbe.org, a pro-peace website dedicated to the visions of what people want USA to be.

Chart performance

On September 13, 2008, "Rise" charted on the Billboard Hot Modern Rock Tracks at number 36. So far, the song has peaked at number 33.

Rise (sculpture)

Rise (also unofficially known as the Balls of the Falls,Belfast Ball,Westicle and Broadway Junction Art Piece), is a concept £400,000public art spherical metal sculpture by Wolfgang Buttress. It is 37.5 metres (123 ft) high and 30 metres (98 ft) wide and was constructed in early 2011 in the centre of the Broadway roundabout, at the junction of the Westlink and M1 motorway, a main gateway to the city where (as of 2009) more than 80,000 cars on average flow past it each day.

Rise is visible for miles around the city. The area is part of a multi-million pound road improvement programme. It is the biggest public art sculpture in Belfast. Work on Rise was due to begin in August 2009 and end in October 2009, however due to delays the completion date was changed to March 2011. It was finally completed in September 2011, nearly two years behind the original schedule. When completed it became Belfast's largest public artwork.

Construction

The globe-shaped, white and silver steel sculpture is a representation of a new sun rising to celebrate a new chapter in the history of Belfast.

Disturbed (band)

Disturbed is an American heavy metal band from Chicago, Illinois. The band comprises vocalist David Draiman, bassist John Moyer, guitarist Dan Donegan, and drummer Mike Wengren. Former band members are vocalist Erich Awalt and bassist Steve Kmak.

Formed in 1994 as Brawl, the band was renamed Disturbed in 1996 after Draiman was hired as the band's new vocalist. The band has released six studio albums, five of which have consecutively debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Disturbed went into hiatus in October 2011, during which the band's members focused on various side projects, and returned in June 2015, releasing their first album in five years, Immortalized, on August 21.

History

Early years as Brawl (1994–1996)

Before David Draiman joined Disturbed, the lineup consisted of vocalist Erich Awalt, guitarist Dan Donegan, drummer Mike Wengren, and bassist Steve "Fuzz" Kmak. Before changing their name to "Brawl", however, Donegan mentioned in the band's DVD, Decade of Disturbed, that the name was originally going to be "Crawl"; they switched it to "Brawl", due to the name already being used by another band. Awalt left the band shortly after the recording of a demo tape; the other three members advertised for a singer. They posted an advertisement in the local music publication in Chicago, Illinois, called the "Illinois Entertainer". Draiman answered the advertisement after going to twenty other auditions that month. Guitarist Dan Donegan commented on Draiman: "You know, out of all the singers that we had talked to or auditioned, he [Draiman] was the only singer who was ready to go with originals. And that impressed me, just to attempt that".

Disturbed (Numbers)

"Disturbed" is the 21st episode of the fifth season of the American television show Numb3rs. In the episode written by series creators/executive producers Cheryl Heuton and Nicolas Falacci, skeptical Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents track an undetected serial killer while their math consultant copes with his brother's recent injury. After FBI Special Agent Don Eppes's (Rob Morrow) injury, FBI Special Agent David Sinclair (Alimi Ballard), who was the newest member of the team at the beginning of the series, served as team leader. Falacci and Heuton also included Easter eggs from the "Pilot" and from some of the previous 99 episodes.

The producers brought back one previous guest star and almost had a special guest star. For the 100th episode, series producers brought back Josh Gad, who amazed producers in a previous episode. Dr. Stephen Hawking, who visited the set during filming, almost became a guest star in the episode.

"Disturbed" first aired in the United States on May 1, 2009. Critics generally liked the episode.

Disturbed (film)

Disturbed is a 1990 American horror film directed by Charles Winkler starring Malcolm McDowell as a psychiatrist who rapes a young woman in his care, then must deal with her vengeance-seeking daughter 10 years later.

Plot

Dr. Derrick Russell (Malcolm McDowell) rapes one of the patients in his care. When she throws herself from the roof shortly afterward, he describes her suicide as a consequence of her depression. Ten years later, he plans to rape another patient, Sandy Ramirez (Pamela Gidley). What Russell does not know is that Sandy is the daughter of his previous victim, and that she is bent on revenge. A post-credit sequence depicts a man kissing the camera before he laughs.
