Nylon (now The Charlies) is an Icelandic girl group composed of members Alma Goodman (born Alma Guðmundsdóttir), Camilla Stones (born Steinunn Þóra Camilla Sigurðardóttir) and Klara Elias (born Klara Ósk Elíasdóttir). They are Iceland's most successful singer/songwriter girl-band, producing ten number one singles, three number one studio albums, one number one compilation and one number one DVD in Iceland.
The group was formed after auditions in Iceland, which Alma, Camilla and Klara attended. A few weeks after the auditions, Emilia was asked whether she would like to be in the band, and after meeting them, she accepted the offer. The group sings pop music in English and Icelandic. Their first single, "Lög Unga Fólksins" (which means "The Young People's Song" in English), was released in April 2004 and went straight to number one. The group have had huge success in their native country of Iceland: achieving a total of 13 Number 1 singles to date, a TV show about their first summer as a girlband, three chart topping albums, and a book entitled "100% Nylon" (which instantly became a best seller). They have also released a DVD entitled "Nylon Allstaðar", which contained their smash hit TV show as well as other bonus features.
Nylon is an American multi-platform media company and magazine that focus on pop culture and fashion. Its coverage includes art, beauty, music, design, celebrities, technology and travel. Its name references New York and London. Paul Greenberg is the CEO and Marc Luzzatto is the chairman and principal owner.
Nylon was co-founded in 1999 by Madonna Badger, Mark Blackwell, supermodel Helena Christensen, and husband and wife Marvin and Jaclynn Jarrett, with investment from Sam Waksal. Three of the founders had previously worked together in their same roles at Ray Gun Magazine: Editor Marvin Jarrett, Publisher Jaclynn his wife, and Editorial Director Mark Blackwell; the Jarretts had recently sold their interest in Ray Gun Publishing. According to Publisher Jaclynn Jarrett, the magazine's name was chosen because her husband Marvin just liked the sound of Nylon. After picking it, they realized the New York/London tie-in, which was congruous to Nylon's editorial focus on these two cities. The first two letters are the initials for New York and the last three letters are the first three letters of London (New York London). The design of the magazine was intended to be "hyper-legible", in answer to criticism of Ray-Gun 's "chaotic" layouts. The first issue was published on April 6, 1999.
Nylon 11 or Polyamide 11 (PA 11) is a polyamide bioplastic derived from vegetable oil. It is produced by Arkema under the trade name Rilsan from castor beans. Nylon 11 is not biodegradable.
Its properties are similar to nylon 12, although it has a lower environmental impact, consumes less non-renewable resources to be produced and has superior thermal resistance. It is weaker but more resilient than the most common types of nylon (6 and 6/6). It is used in high-performance applications such as automotive fuel lines, pneumatic airbrake tubing, electrical anti-termite cable sheathing, oil and gas flexible pipes and control fluid umbilicals, sports shoes, electronic device components, and catheters.

The manga and anime series Shaman King features several characters created by Hiroyuki Takei. As a result of being focused on shamanism the series' cast is divided between humans and spirits, the latter not being able to go the afterlife due to their alliance with the former.
The series primarily focuses on a teenager named Yoh Asakura, who reveals to his classmate Manta Oyamada that he is a shaman when fighting a group delinquents led by Ryu. Wishing to lead a peaceful life, Yoh has been training from an early age to become the titular "Shaman King", who will be able to change the world according to his will. During Yoh's training, Manta meets Yoh's demanding fiancee, Anna Kyoyama and Yoh's spirit partner, the samurai Amidamaru. In his journey to become Shaman King, Yoh also meets with a number of rival shamans who seek to become Shaman King for their own reasons and visions of the future, some who become his allies and others who become his enemies. The series' sequel, Shaman King Flowers, deals with Yoh's son, Hana Asakura, on his development as a shaman.
"Rio" is the seventh single by Duran Duran, released on 1 November 1982.
The song was the fourth, final, and title single lifted from the band's album of the same name, and was edited for its release. It was issued worldwide in January 1983 and became an immediate Top 10 hit in the UK Singles Chart, peaking at #9 on 11 December 1982.
The song did not attract much notice in the United States upon its initial global release, but received very early airplay at highly influential KROQ in Los Angeles as early as 2 August 1982. After the band's breakthrough hit "Hungry Like the Wolf" stormed MTV and scaled the American charts in December 1982, radio programmers paid closer attention to the catchy melody and insistent, intricate bass line of "Rio", and Capitol Records reissued the single in March 1983 to great success.
It is one of the band's most recognizable songs, mostly due to its famous music video, which is widely regarded as symbolic of 1980s glamour and excess.
The musical hook for "Rio", well-known among Duran Duran fans and synthesizer enthusiasts, was produced by an arpeggiator—a software tool which can play the individual notes in a chord in a chosen pattern. It was once rumored that the synthesiser used to achieve this was a Roland Jupiter-8. However, it has been said by Nick Rhodes to actually be a Roland Jupiter-4 using the random mode on the arpeggiator with a Cmaj7 chord.
Was fresh and bright and early
I went towards the river
But nothing still has altered just the seasons ring a
change
There stood this old timer
For all the world's first poacher
His mind upon his tackle
And these words upon his mind:
Bring me fish with eyes of jewels
And mirrors on their bodies
Bring them strong and bring them bigger
Than a newborn child
Well I've no use for riches
And I've no use for power
And I've no use for a broken heart
I'll let this world go by
There stood this old timer
For all the world's first poacher
His mind upon his tackle
And these words upon his mind:
Bring me fish with eyes of jewels
And mirrors on their bodies
Bring them strong and bring them bigger
