Dermatophytosis is a clinical condition caused by fungal infection of the skin in humans, pets such as cats, and domesticated animals such as sheep, goats and cattle. The most common term for the infection, "ringworm", is a misnomer, since the condition is caused by fungi of several different species and not by parasitic worms. The fungi that cause parasitic infection, collectively dermatophytes, feed on keratin, the material found in the outer layer of skin, hair, and nails. These fungi thrive on warm and moist skin, but may also survive directly on the outsides of hair shafts or in their interiors. In pets, the fungus responsible for the disease survives in skin and on the outer surface of hairs.
Currently, up to 20% of the population may be infected by dermatophytes at any given time. It is especially common among people who play sports involving skin-to-skin contact, wrestling in particular. Wrestlers with ringworm may be withheld from competition until their skin condition is deemed noninfectious by the proper authorities.
Ringworm is an American metalcore band formed in Cleveland, Ohio in 1989. The name "Ringworm" was derived from a Vincent Price movie. The band has toured extensively in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe and has released their last four albums on Victory Records. In 2013, the band announced they had signed with Relapse Records and that a new LP would be released through them. Vocalist Human Furnace currently plays in the Cleveland metal band Gluttons, and solo project HOLYGHOST.
The more things change, the more they stay the same
The demons keep calling my name
Again and again and again
Hate's spiraling kiss, destroys sanity's bliss
We'll see who regrets this, when you kneel at the altar
No beginnings, no end
Again and again
It's all the same
Again and again
Eternal flames
Again and again
An icepick in my brain
Rise incubus, scream
Frozen in my dreams
Now on your knees pig and kneel at the altar
No beginning, no end
Again and again
It's all the same
Again and again
Eternal flames
Again and again
