The Ringo Kid is a fictional Western hero in the Marvel Comics' universe, whose comic book series was originally released by the company's 1950s predecessor, Atlas Comics. A lesser-known character than the company's Kid Colt, Rawhide Kid, or Two-Gun Kid, he also appeared in a reprint series in the 1970s.
The character is unrelated to the actor John Wayne's "Ringo Kid" in the Western film Stagecoach.
Atlas Comics' Ringo Kid debuted in the first issue of a series billed on its trademarked cover logo as Ringo Kid for all but two issues (#1 and #3, cover-billed as Ringo Kid Western). Created by an unknown writer and artist Joe Maneely, it ran 21 issues (cover-dated Aug. 1954 - Sept. 1957), drawn primarily by either Maneely or Fred Kida. Stories also ran occasionally in Wild Western, beginning with issue #38 (Nov. 1954), initially drawn by Maneely, with artist John Severin taking the reins in at least issues #46-47 (Nov. 1955 - Jan. 1956). Ringo was the lead feature in the two-issue anthology series Western Trails #1-2 (May & July 1957). He also appears on the cover of Wild Western #39 (Dec. 1954), but not in an interior story.
Ringo (born Guy Bayle 11 May 1947), in Toulouse, France, also known as Ringo Willy Cat is a French pop–singer, who became famous in the seventies. According to Billboard magazine he "enjoyed a huge amount of sales" with various hits. Ringo was cited by Billboard as an example of a French artist having a big impact in exporting French songs to the international arena and creating international hits despite the existing language barrier which the French artists face abroad. He was married to Sheila, a female French singer. Ringo's career ended in the mid–'80s.
Ringo, during his high-school years in Toulouse, enjoyed reading Albert Camus as well as literary works by other authors. He also wrote and performed songs and played the guitar. As a composer he was influenced by the American music of the era. In the late '60s he met musician Pierre Groscolas and the two formed the group Chœurs. After some initial success in Toulouse, the group decided to go to Paris.
Ringo were an English alternative rock band led by singer and songwriter Tim Keegan, active between 1992 and 1994. Originally known as Railroad Earth, they changed their name to Ringo to avoid confusion with the American band Railroad Jerk. Ironically, there has been another American band called Railroad Earth since 2001.
The line-up of the band was:
Ringo is a two-player abstract strategy board game from Germany. It was possibly invented sometime in the late 19th century or early 20th century. The game simulates a castle siege. Attackers are attempting to enter a castle while defenders are trying to protect it and reduce the number of attackers.
Pieces are captured similarly as in draughts which makes Ringo its distant relative although some consider it to be a descendant of Tafl games which also have opponents with different sized armies. An interesting feature in Ringo is an area on the board called the Neutral Zone where pieces cannot be captured which makes for some interesting attack tactics on the castle.
The goal of the attackers is to bring two of their pieces into the castle. The goal of the defenders is to prevent that from happening, and to reduce the number of attackers to one.
The board is circular with a middle circle (called the castle) and five rings, and it is also divided into 8 pie slices which makes for 41 spaces or cells. With the exception to the castle and the spaces in the Neutral Zone, 35 spaces are colored black and white in alternating fashion. However, any two colors are appropriate. The castle is colored white or whichever color is lightest in the alternating color scheme. One of the pie slices is called the Neutral Zone and is colored completely different from the rest of the board.
The Domain Name System of the Internet consists of a set of top-level domains which constitute the root domain of the hierarchical name space and database. In the growth of the Internet, it became desirable to expand the set of initially six generic top-level domains in 1984. As a result new top-level domain names have been proposed for implementation by ICANN. Such proposals included a variety of models ranging from adoption of policies for unrestricted gTLDs that could be registered by anyone for any purpose, to chartered gTLDs for specialized uses by specialized organizations. In October 2000, ICANN published a list of proposals for top-level domain strings it had received.
The domestic goat (Capra aegagrus hircus) is a subspecies of goat domesticated from the wild goat of southwest Asia and Eastern Europe.
The goat is a member of the family Bovidae and is closely related to the sheep as both are in the goat-antelope subfamily Caprinae. There are over 300 distinct breeds of goat. Goats are one of the oldest domesticated species, and have been used for their milk, meat, hair, and skins over much of the world. In 2011, there were more than 924 million live goats around the globe, according to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization.
Female goats are referred to as "does" or "nannies", intact males as "bucks", "billies", or "rams" and their offspring are "kids". Castrated males are "wethers". Goat meat from younger animals is called "kid" or cabrito (Spanish), and from older animals is simply known as "goat" or sometimes called chevon (French), or in some areas "mutton" (which more often refers to adult sheep meat).
The Modern English word goat comes from Old English gāt "she-goat, goat in general", which in turn derives from Proto-Germanic *gaitaz (cf. Dutch/Icelandic geit, German Geiß, and Gothic gaits), ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *ǵʰaidos meaning "young goat" (cf. Latin haedus "kid"), itself perhaps from a root meaning "jump" (assuming that Old Church Slavonic zajęcǐ "hare", Sanskrit jihīte "he moves" are related). To refer to the male, Old English used bucca (giving modern buck) until ousted by hegote, hegoote in the late 12th century. Nanny goat (females) originated in the 18th century and billy goat (for males) in the 19th.
