Ricky Davis

Tyree Ricardo "Ricky" Davis (born September 23, 1979) is an American professional basketball player who is currently a free agent. He last played for the Erie BayHawks of the NBA Developmental League

Biography

Davis attended Davenport North High School in Davenport, Iowa. He was a four-year starter and the Davenport North team made the state tournament his junior and senior years but did not reach the championship.

Davis played one season at the University of Iowa before being selected by the Charlotte Hornets in the first round of the 1998 NBA Draft, as the 21st pick overall. Davis played two seasons with the Hornets before being traded to the Miami Heat in a massive nine-player trade on August 1, 2000.

Davis injured his ankle and knee with the Heat and only played a total of seven games for them, and was eventually sent to the Cleveland Cavaliers in a three-team deal involving the Toronto Raptors a year later on October 26, 2001.

The Cavaliers re-signed Davis on August 21, 2002 to a six-year contract. Davis' time with Cleveland was marked by disputes with then head coach Paul Silas. Ricky Davis received national attention on March 16, 2003, in game against the Utah Jazz. With Cleveland ahead in the game 120–95, Davis was one rebound short of a triple-double with only a few seconds left on the clock. After receiving an inbound pass at the Cavs' end of the floor, Davis banged the ball off the rim and caught it in attempt to receive credit for a rebound. Shots taken at one's own basket do not count as shot attempts, so the play did not count as a rebound. The Cavaliers initially said they would not punish Davis, saying the embarrassment was enough. However, in the face of a national outcry, the Cavaliers reversed themselves and fined Davis an undisclosed amount for unsportsmanlike conduct, and the play led to Davis being nicknamed "Wrong Way Ricky" in Cleveland.

Rick Davis

Richard Dean (Rick or Ricky) Davis (born November 24, 1958 in Denver, Colorado and grew up in Claremont, California) is a retired American soccer midfielder, and former captain of the U.S. National Team for much of the 1980s. He is considered by many the best U.S.-born player of the North American Soccer League era and is a member of the National Soccer Hall of Fame.

Youth

Davis began playing soccer at the age of seven for an AYSO soccer team in Claremont, California. He was an All-American high school player at Damien High School in La Verne, California. In 1977, he played a single season of college soccer at Santa Clara University While at Santa Clara, he was a member of the Broncos team which took the U-19 National Open Championship (McGuire Cup).

Professional

An American on a team of international superstars with the Cosmos, he helped the team to three league titles in 1978, 1980 and 1982. He began playing with the team during the 1978 season and was selected as the 1979 North American Player of the Year in his second season.

Richard Terrell Davis (born May 18, 1953 in Birmingham, Alabama) was a National Football League defensive back who played from 1975 to 1977 for the Cincinnati Bengals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs. He attended Jess Lanier High School, college at the University of Alabama and was the Cincinnati Bengals 8th round pick in the 1975 NFL Draft.
