Richard King (MP)

Richard King was an English lawyer and politician who sat in the House of Commons between 1640 and 1643. He supported the Royalist side in the English Civil War.

King was elected recorder of Melcombe Regis on 4 February 1628.

In April 1640, King was elected Member of Parliament for Melcombe Regis in the Short Parliament. He was re-elected MP for Melcombe Regis in the Long Parliament in November 1640 King is recorded in an incident in 1641 after George Digby was accelerated to the House of Lords. Digby's younger brother John perched himself on a ladder at the door of the chamber which the speaker, William Lenthall took as an act of disrespect and insubordination and told him to take his place, and not to sit upon the ladder as if he were going to be hanged. King complained that the Speaker had transgressed his duty in using so disgraceful a speech to so noble a gentleman and after some turmoil obtained a conditional apology. King supported King Charles and was disabled from sitting in parliament on 27 February 1643.

Richard King is an American sound designer and editor who has worked on over 70 films. A native of Tampa, Florida, he graduated from Plant High School (1972) and the University of South Florida. He won the Academy Award for Best Sound Editing for the films Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003), The Dark Knight (2008) and Inception (2010). Won Best Sound for Inception.He was also nominated for War of the Worlds (2005) and Interstellar (2014).

King is a member of the International Samobor Film Music Festival's Board.

Richard King (priest)

Richard George Salmon King (1871–23 October 1958) was the Dean of Derry from 1921 to 1946.

King was educated at Trinity College, Dublin and ordained in 1895. He was a curate at Mullingar and then Holloway before becoming the rector of Drumachose in 1904, a post he held until his appointment to the deanery.

King was an ardent Unionist.

King was married with Dorothea King, youngest daughter of Andrew Ferguson Smyly, formerly dean of Derry, and niece of William Alexander. When King refused the offer to become Archbishop of Armagh in 1938, the illness of his wife was one of the reasons. In 1947, a stained glass window was installed in her memory in the baptistery of St Columb's Cathedral.
