Medical algorithm

A medical algorithm is any computation, formula, statistical survey, nomogram, or look-up table, useful in healthcare. Medical algorithms include decision tree approaches to healthcare treatment (e.g., if symptoms A, B, and C are evident, then use treatment X) and also less clear-cut tools aimed at reducing or defining uncertainty.

Scope

Medical algorithms are part of a broader field which is usually fit under the aims of medical informatics and medical decision making. Medical decisions occur in several areas of medical activity including medical test selection, diagnosis, therapy and prognosis, and automatic control of medical equipment.

In relation to logic-based and artificial neural network-based clinical decision support system, which are also computer applications to the medical decision making field, algorithms are less complex in architecture, data structure and user interface. Medical algorithms are not necessarily implemented using digital computers. In fact, many of them can be represented on paper, in the form of diagrams, nomographs, etc.

Algorithm (My Heart to Fear album)

Algorithm is the first studio album from My Heart to Fear. Solid State Records released the album on July 9, 2013.

Critical reception

Awarding the album three stars from Alternative Press, Jason Schreurs writes, "As is the case with the bulk of this musical style, the vocals bring it back down to a near-mediocre level." Bradley Zorgdrager, rating the album a five out of ten for Exclaim!, says, "Unfortunately, a lack of inspiration causes the songs to come undone, as many of the parts sound only like a means to get to the next." Giving the album four stars at About.com, Todd Lyons states, "everything binds together into one masterful meditation." Tim Dodderidge, indicating in a 8.5 out of ten review by Mind Equals Blown, writes, "From start to finish, My Heart to Fear’s debut full-length is an energetic, ferocious, cathartic and inspiring metal album."

Kevin Hoskins, giving the album three and a half stars for Jesus Freak Hideout, describes, "this is just metal done well ... but any hardcore fan will be digging this release all summer long." Awarding the album four and a half stars from HM Magazine, Sean Huncherick states, "One good thing about Algorithm is that the band realizes they don’t need to constantly play as fast as they can." Brody B., rating the album four star at Indie Vision Music, writes, "With a few minor tweaks here and there that could have made songs feel more fleshed out I would have had a hard time finding fault with this debut record."

Algorithm (C++)

In the C++ Standard Library, algorithms are components that perform algorithmic operations on containers and other sequences.

The C++ standard provides some standard algorithms collected in the <algorithm> standard header. A handful of algorithms are also in the <numeric> header. All algorithms are in the std namespace.

Categories of algorithms

The algorithms in the C++ Standard Library can be organized into the following categories.

  • Non-modifying sequence operations (e.g. find_if, count, search)
  • Modifying sequence operations (e.g. replace, remove, reverse)
  • Sorting (e.g. sort, stable_sort, partial_sort)
  • Binary search (e.g. lower_bound, upper_bound)
  • Heap (e.g. make_heap, push_heap)
  • Min/max (e.g. min, max)
  • Examples

  • OutputIterator copy(InputIterator source_begin, InputIterator source_end, OutputIterator destination_begin)
  • void fill(ForwardIterator destination_begin, ForwardIterator destination_end, T value)
  • InputIterator find(InputIterator begin, InputIterator end, T search_object) (returns an iterator the found object or end, if the object isn't found)
  • Reverse!?

Reverse?! is a yaoi manga illustrated by Kazuhiko Mishima.

    Plot

A new teacher comes to a boys school and immediately has a young student hitting on him. Along with another student always glaring at them when they're together. So the teacher decides to go along with it and make a game out of it even though he's straight. But what starts out as fun soon elevates into the teacher trying to keep the student who admires him away.

    Characters

Anemiya is the new math teacher at an all-boys school. He plans to vent the frustration about his life in playing a joke on Mifune and Kijima, a couple of gay boys in his class, but the plan backfires... Soon Amemiya finds himself sexually harassed by Mifune and Kijima becomes his only hope to be rescued.

Mifune is one of Anemiya's students. He appears to be a nice-looking boy, but he's now a cold-blooded yandere towards Anemiya.

Kijima is one of Anemiya's students. He seems to be cold-blooded boy, but he's developed a romantic relationship with Anemiya after rescuing him from Mifune.

  • Reverse (film)

Reverse (original title: Rewers) is a 2009 Polish drama film with a fair portion of black humor, directed by Borys Lankosz.

    Plot

This film is set in Warsaw in the 1950s, with a few flash-forwards to present-day Warsaw. The main character is Sabina, a quiet, shy woman who has just turned thirty, and lives with her mother and ailing grandmother. Sabina lacks a man in her life, and her mother tries hard to find a husband for her. The grandmother, an eccentric lady with a sharp tongue from whom no secret can be concealed, also gets involved. Successive admirers arrive at their small, but tasteful apartment in an antebellum house, but Sabina shows no interest in any of them.

One night, appearing out of nowhere, comes the charming, intelligent, and good-looking Bronislaw. Bronislaw is apparently interested in Sabina, and courts her, and Sabina falls hopelessly in love with him. But when Bronislaw reveals that he is a member of the secret police, and wants Sabina to spy on her boss at the state-run publishing house, things go from bad to worse to macabre. Sabina and her mother and her grandmother are fortunately up to the challenge, revealing a darker side to their otherwise affable personalities.
