Retro Productions
Retro Productions is a New York City based Off-Off-Broadway theater company. Its artistic director is Heather E. Cunningham, an actress and producer whose performance as Rose Walker in the Retro production An Appeal to the Woman of the House by Christie Perfetti Williams won her a New York Innovative Theatre Award for Best Actress in a Lead Role.
Retro Productions' mission is to produce works of "Retro Theater," mainly straight plays that take place between 1925 and 1985 and is not to be confused with Gary Wright Music c/o Retroprods which is a NYC based Arts-in-Education provider responsible for "The Great American POP Show! A Lively History of Popular Song in the USA" and "Singing BOOKS! A Musical Magical Carpet Ride Through Classic Children's Literature."
History
The company was formed in 2005 under the original name River Heights Productions. Under this name the company produced two plays: Catholic School Girls by Casey Kurtti and Mrs. California by Doris Baizley. The production of Mrs. California was the New York City premiere.
