Restless (New Order song)

"Restless" is a song by English rock band New Order, released on 28 July 2015 to promote their upcoming tenth album, Music Complete. This is the first single, as well as new material, New Order has released in a decade since 2005's single, "Waiting for the Sirens' Call", as well as the first single featuring Tom Chapman replacing former bassist and founding member Peter Hook. The song's concept revolves around greed and consumption.

The song has received generally favourable reviews. The overall composition, as well as its catchy tune and lyrics were praised.

Background

This is the first single released since 2005, as well as the return of Gillian Gilbert and the introduction of Tom Chapman.

Music Complete was announced from 2 September 2014 thru 22 June 2015 on Stereogum, Consequence of Sound, as well as other places, including the band's official website. They all hinted at a future release of an LP, as well as other future releases.

On July 28, the single was released as a format of digital download. A physical CD and 12" vinyl with additional remixes were released later on October 6.

Restless (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)

"Restless" is the 22nd episode and season finale of season four of the supernatural drama television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997–2003), and the 78th episode of the series overall. The episode was written and directed by the show's creator Joss Whedon and originally aired on The WB in the United States on May 23, 2000.

The premise of Buffy the Vampire Slayer is that an adolescent girl, Buffy Summers, is chosen by mystical forces and given superhuman powers to kill vampires, demons, and other evil creatures in the fictional town of Sunnydale. She is supported by a close circle of family and friends, nicknamed the Scooby Gang. "Restless" centers on the dreams of the four main characters after enduring an exhausting fight in the previous episode. The dreams are used to comment on the characters—their fears, their past and their possible future. Consistent with each dream is the presence of the First Slayer who hunts and kills them one by one until, in the final sequence, she is confronted and disempowered by Buffy.

Restless (Switchfoot song)

"Restless" is a song written and recorded by the alternative rock band Switchfoot, and a radio single from Vice Verses, their eighth studio album. It served as the album's co-lead single with "Dark Horses".

Song history

Lead singer and principal songwriter for the band Jon Foreman wrote the song in Europe, with the intent of "trying to embody the story of the rain," which comes from the idea that raindrops are on a "relentless" journey back to the ocean. "I was thinking about the idea that I'm on a journey myself," he says. "...reaching and searching and longing for more.

The song first made a public appearance in April 2011 when Foreman performed an acoustic rendition live at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It was later performed by the full band on May 18th in London, Ontario during a brief Canadian tour.

The official music video for the song debuted on 31 October 2011. It was directed by Tom Aiello.

Reception

"Restless" was released to Christian CHR radio in July alongside Switchfoot's mainstream single, "Dark Horses." Air1 picked up the song on July 18, 2011.

M-11 (Human Robot)

M-11 is a robot. Originally known as the Human Robot, the character was given the name "M-11" in the 2006 to 2007 Agents of Atlas miniseries as an allusion to its first appearance in Menace #11 (May 1954) from Marvel Comics' 1950s predecessor, Atlas Comics. The character's five-page origin story, "I, the Robot", appeared in the science fiction/horror/crime anthology title Menace #11 (May 1954) from Marvel Comics' 1950s predecessor, Atlas Comics. In an alternate reality from mainstream Earth, a scientist's newly created robot is programmed by the scientist's greedy business manager to murder the scientist. The incomplete robot, however, continues through with his directive to "kill the man in the room", and kills the business manager when the man enters. The robot then leaves the house, programmed to "kill the man in the room".

M-Twins (M, Penance ll)

The M-Twins (Nicole and Claudette St. Croix) are superheroine mutants who appear in the X-Men family of books. Created by writer Scott Lobdell and artist Chris Bachalo, she/they (as M) originally was a member of the teenage mutant group Generation X, and have not appeared in the series since Generation X #58. Nicole and Claudette have various telepathic abilities, including reading minds, projecting their thoughts into the minds of others, and defensively masking their minds against telepathic intrusion. They have also used telepathy offensively to limited degrees, such as mind control and memory wipes. The twins (and all their siblings) are somehow able to merge into various combinations with each other, each resulting fusion generally having a distinct personality and unique set of powers. However, the fusions can be undone by considerable trauma, typically a large explosion.

Marshal (Italy)

The Italian military rank of maresciallo (marshal) is classified as a "sub-officer" and is the highest rank of non-commissioned officer in the Italian armed forces, higher than the rank of sergeant but lower than that of ensign/second lieutenant; there are from three to five grades within the rank, according to the different branches of the armed forces. The rank is achieved through merit or attending the Scuola Allievi Marescialli (School of Student Marshals). Marshal is an intermediate rank of the armed forces which is currently granted to NCOs with the training and technical competence to carry out specialised executive roles, and to command smaller and technically complex units.

Marshal of the Soviet Union

Marshal of the Soviet Union (Russian: Маршал Советского Союза Russian pronunciation: [ˈmarʂəl sɐˈvʲɛtskəvə sɐˈjuzə]) was the highest military rank of the Soviet Union (while the supreme rank of Generalissimus of the Soviet Union was proposed for Joseph Stalin after the Second World War, it was never officially approved).

The rank of Marshal of the Soviet Union was created in 1935 and abolished in 1991. Forty-one people held the rank of Marshal of the Soviet Union. The equivalent naval rank was until 1955 Admiral of the Fleet and from 1955 Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union.

Both ranks were comparable to NATO rank codes OF10, and to the five-star rank in anglophone armed forces.

History of the rank

The military rank of Marshal of the Soviet Union was established by a decree of the Soviet Cabinet, the Council of People's Commissars (Sovnarkom), on September 22, 1935. On November 20, the rank was conferred on five people: People's Commissar of Defence and veteran Bolshevik Kliment Voroshilov, Chief of the General Staff of the Red Army Alexander Ilyich Yegorov, and three senior commanders, Vasily Blyukher, Semyon Budyonny, and Mikhail Tukhachevsky.
