Reset (computing)

In a computer or data transmission system, a reset clears any pending errors or events and brings a system to normal condition or an initial state, usually in a controlled manner. It is usually done in response to an error condition when it is impossible or undesirable for a processing activity to proceed and all error recovery mechanisms fail. A computer storage program would normally perform a "reset" if a command times out and error recovery schemes like retry or abort also fail.

Most computers have a reset line that brings the device into the startup state and is active for a short time after powering on. For example, in the x86 architecture, asserting the RESET line halts the CPU; this is done after the system is switched on and before the power supply has asserted "power good" to indicate that it is ready to supply stable voltages at sufficient power levels. Reset places less stress on the hardware than power cycling, as the power is not removed. Many computers, especially older models, have user accessible "reset" buttons that assert the reset line to facilitate a system reboot in a way that cannot be trapped (i.e. prevented) by the operating system. Out-of-band management also frequently provides the possibility to reset the remote system in this way.

Reset (Tina Arena album)

Reset is the tenth studio album released by Australian singer and songwriter Tina Arena on 18 October 2013. The first single, "You Set Fire to My Life" was released on 26 September 2013. Despite not being released as a single, "Only Lonely" charted in the top 50 in late November due to being used in an advertisement for the Australian soap opera Home and Away. "Reset All" was released as the second official single on 18 December. Reset is Arena's sixth top 10 album in Australia. Reset was released in the United Kingdom on 3 November 2014.

"You Set Fire to My Life" was released at the first single in September 2013 and peaked at 38. "Reset All" was released as the second single and "Love You Less" was announced as the third single in March 2014, but did not eventuate. "Still Running" was released as the third single in August 2014. The video clip was filmed in Rome and released in July.

In addition to the official singles, "Only Lonely" charted at 32 and gained national interest after it was used in a commercial for the 2013 finale of Channel 7's Home and Away as well as at the 2014 Logie Awards.

Reset is an EP by American electronic music producer Flying Lotus. It was released on Warp Records on October 1, 2007.

Reception

Charles Ubaghs of Drowned in Sound gave the EP an 8 out of 10, saying: "If he can expand on what he's accomplished here with the same level of technical skill and vision, then Flying Lotus just might be onto something that forces us all to stand up and take notice in the very near future." Stephanie Kale of Exclaim! said: "The closest comparison is J Dilla's Donuts - the grooves come hard and fast like sweet interludes that keep you wanting more."

Jack McFarlane of The Skinny described "Tea Leaf Dancers" as "a seductive and sultry post-midnight slow dancer with top 40 written all over it".

Naked is a 1986 album by the Art Ensemble of Chicago released on the Japanese DIW label. It features performances by Lester Bowie, Joseph Jarman, Roscoe Mitchell, Malachi Favors Maghostut and Don Moye.

Reception

Allmusic's Stephen Cook describes the album as "appealing without being especially challenging" and "a good introduction to the Art Ensemble of Chicago's vast catalog".

Naked (Glee)

"Naked" is the twelfth episode of the fourth season of the American musical television series Glee, and the seventy-eighth episode overall. Written and directed by co-creators Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, respectively, it aired on Fox in the United States on January 31, 2013.

Plot

The Dalton Academy Warblers are exposed for using steroids for their participation in Sectionals, and New Directions is given another chance to compete in Regionals. To raise money for the bus, Tina Cohen-Chang (Jenna Ushkowitz) successfully proposes they make a sexy "Men of McKinley" calendar with the male members of the New Directions.

Meanwhile, in New York City, Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) is asked to star in a student film, but becomes conflicted when she learns the role requires her to be topless. After singing "Torn", Rachel decides to go through with it. Although her boyfriend Brody Weston (Dean Geyer) supports her, Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer) does not agree with her decision and calls Quinn Fabray (Dianna Agron) and Santana Lopez (Naya Rivera) to convince Rachel not to do it, but Rachel remains decided.

Naked (Marques Houston album)

Naked is the second studio album of American R&B artist, Marques Houston, a former member of the R&B group Immature/IMx. The album was released in the U.S. on May 24, 2005 and is available as a clean version and a parental advisory version. The album sold up to 290,000 copies.

History

Houston's opinion of this album is that, "I wanted to give my fans a more intimate look at who I am. I called this album Naked because I'm not ashamed of my emotions. I just went through a lot of drama, and I'm an adult now, so these songs are very deep as a result."

In the United States, Naked peaked at number 13 on the Billboard 200 and peaked at number 5 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.

The album features guest appearances by Joe Budden, Rufus Blaq and fellow former Immature/IMx member, Young Rome.
