Denis Leary

Denis Colin Leary (born August 18, 1957) is an American actor, writer, producer, singer, and comedian. He was the star and co-creator of Rescue Me, which ended its seventh and final season on September 7, 2011. Leary has starred in many motion pictures, most recently as Captain George Stacy in Marc Webb's 2012 film The Amazing Spider-Man, Cleveland Browns Head Coach Vince Penn in Ivan Reitman's 2014 film Draft Day, and the voice of Diego in the Ice Age franchise. As of 2015, he wrote and has been starring in the comedy series Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll, which premiered on FX on July 16, 2015.

Early life

Denis Colin Leary was born on August 18, 1957 in Worcester, Massachusetts, the son of Roman Catholic immigrant parents from County Kerry, Ireland. His mother, Nora (née Sullivan), was a maid, and his father, John Leary, was an auto mechanic. Being the son of Irish parents, Leary is a citizen of both the United States and Ireland. Through marriage, Leary is a third cousin of talk show host Conan O'Brien. He attended Saint Peter-Marian High School, in Worcester and graduated from Emerson College, in Boston. At Emerson, he met fellow comic Mario Cantone, whom to this day Leary considers his closest friend. At the school, he founded the Emerson Comedy Workshop, a troupe that continues on-campus today. After graduating with the Emerson Class of 1981, he took a job at the school teaching comedy writing classes and maintained the job for five years. He received an honorary doctorate and spoke briefly at his alma mater's undergraduate commencement ceremony on May 16, 2005; he is thus credited as "Dr. Denis Leary" on the cover of his 2009 book, Why We Suck.

Diane Farr

Diane Farr (born September 7, 1969) is an American actress and producer. She is known for her roles as FBI agent Megan Reeves in the CBS television series Numb3rs and Firefighter Laura Miles on Rescue Me.

Life and career

Diane Farr was born on September 7, 1969 in New York City, New York. She is of Irish and Italian descent. Farr studied drama at New York's Stony Brook University and Loughborough University in England and graduated with a joint B.A. from these two universities.

Farr has also written two books. The first, The Girl Code, was published in 2001 and has been translated into seven languages and is still sold around the world. It discusses the secret language of single women. Her most recent book, Kissing Outside the Lines was published in May 2011 and is a comical memoir on her path to an interracial marriage. Farr also writes for a number of American magazines and has an internationally syndicated newspaper column for the International Herald Tribune.

Farr was a co-host of the advice program Loveline on MTV for 200 episodes, and made guest appearances on The Drew Carey Show, Arli$$ and CSI. She portrayed the recurring role of Amy DeLuca, mother to series co-star Majandra Delfino's character Maria, on The WB's and later UPN's Roswell. She also played Maddie Hudson on The WB's Like Family. Later, she played Detective Jan Fendrich on the ABC series The Job, co-created by and starring Denis Leary. Following the end of that series, she appeared in the cast of Rescue Me (also co-created by and starring Leary), playing a firefighter for two seasons. She left Rescue Me to star as FBI agent Megan Reeves on the CBS crime drama Numb3rs.

Diane Farr (writer)

Diane Farr (. San Jose, California) is an American historical romance novelist. She is best known for her Regency romance, published with Signet Regency romances.

Her first book The Nobody, her second bookFair Game (1999) and her fourth bookOnce Upon a Christmas were all finalists for the "Best Regency" RITA award in the year of their publication. Additionally, The Nobody was a finalist for the "Best First Book" RITA award and won Romantic Times magazine's Reviewers' Choice Award for "Best First Regency" in 1999. RITAs are awarded annually by Romance Writers of America Romance Writers of America. However, her Regency romances which featured no sex scenes or mild sensuality (and were thus classified as traditional Regencies) weren't marketed properly, and didn't sell as much as expected. In the mid-2000s, Signet stopped publishing traditional Regencies and Farr lost her writing contract, shortly after publishing four longer traditional Regencies (which were wrongly marketed as Regency historicals).

Adam Ferrara

Adam Ferrara is an American actor and comedian known for playing the role of Chief "Needles" Nelson on the critically acclaimed FX series Rescue Me. He is currently a co-host on the U.S. version of Top Gear and played NYPD Sgt. Frank Verelli opposite Edie Falco on SHOWTIME series Nurse Jackie. He also played Detective Tommy Manetti on the television series The Job.

Biography

Ferrara grew up in Huntington Station, New York in an Italian-American family. He is married to indie actress Alex Tyler, who is on the cover of his comedy DVD Funny as Hell. She also plays the "she-devil" in the special's introductory sketch.

Career

Ferrara has performed on Comedy Central Presents and has twice been nominated for the American Comedy Award for Best Male Stand-Up. Ferrara frequently performs stand-up at Caroline's and the Comedy Cellar. Ferrara also tours often, performing stand-up at the top clubs around the country.

He has performed stand-up several times on The Tonight Show, the Late Show with David Letterman, and Comedy Central. His stand up was featured in Comedy Central's animated series Shorties Watchin' Shorties in 2004.

Rescue Me (U.S. TV series)

Rescue Me is an American comedy-drama television series that premiered on the FX on July 21, 2004 and concluded on September 7, 2011. The series focuses on the professional and personal lives of a group of New York City firefighters, post 9/11.

The protagonist and focal point of the series is veteran New York City Firefighter Tommy Gavin (Denis Leary). The series follows Tommy's troubled family and co-workers as they deal with real life issues, either with post 9/11 trauma or their own domestic problems. Tommy struggles with the loss of his cousin and best friend, Firefighter Jimmy Keefe (James McCaffrey), as well as fifty-nine other firefighters whom he knew, who died in the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Jimmy frequently visits Tommy in ghostly visions. Tommy is an ill-tempered, self-destructive, hypocritical, manipulative, relapsed alcoholic who suffers with severe survivor guilt and posttraumatic stress disorder as a result of 9/11. In the pilot episode, Tommy and his wife Janet (Andrea Roth) have already separated, although they are technically still married, and Tommy has moved across the street. Although he has a poor grasp on his personal life, most of Tommy's actions as a firefighter are heroic and/or well-intentioned, but despite his devotion and care for others (and for the job), he is viewed by his various family members and his fellow firefighters as self-centered.
