Reprint

A reprint is a re-publishing of material that has already been previously published. The word reprint is used in many fields.

Academic publishing

In academic publishing, reprints are customized bulk article reproductions of material usually previously published in academic journals. Reprints from scientific, technical, and medical (STM) journals, in particular, are heavily used to generate awareness and interest across many audience types - referrers such as physicians, consumers, investors, and others. Reprints are traditionally ordered directly from a publisher; However, service providers also exist, serving as an intermediary that makes the procurement processes more efficient by providing a single source to support the procurement process regardless of the copyright owner. Often, these providers provide other services and technology solutions to support ordering by individuals, groups, and organizations such as health care companies.

Types by use

Postage stamp reprint

In philately a reprint is a new printing of a postage stamp from the original plates. A reprint is to be distinguished from a new print which is not printed from the original medium. A reprint may or may not be valid as postage.

Background

While it is common for a postal service to add print runs as stocks are used up by the public, it is also the usual practice to only use a given design for a limited period of time so as to discourage forgery, and then to destroy the printing plates.

Identifying reprints

As reprints are produced from the original plates, it can be very difficult to distinguish them from the original printing. Frequently subtle details matter, such the type of paper, type of gum, or color shades. Reprints often appear fresh and bright compared to the originals.

RePRINT (album)

RePRINT is the third studio album recorded by Amber Smith. The album was released on 10 March 2006 by the German Kalinkaland Records. The album was recorded at Akustair Studio and Fenn-Ti Studio from 2004 to 2005. The sound engineers were Levente Borsay and Jácint Jilling and it was mastered at Akustair Studio and mixed by Robin Guthrie, from the legendary Cocteau Twins. The song from this album, Hello Sun, brought international success for the band.

On 1 September 2005, the first single, Hello Sun, was released including three other songs, Sea Eyes, Pete and Julie and rePRINT.
