Redfoo

Stefan Kendal Gordy (born September 3, 1975), better known by his stage name Redfoo, is an American hip hop recording artist, dancer, record producer and DJ best known as part of the musical duo LMFAO. He formed the duo with his nephew Sky Blu in 2006 and they released two studio albums before going solo in 2013. He is the youngest son of Motown Record Corporation founder Berry Gordy, Jr.

Early life

Redfoo was born on September 3, 1975 to Berry Gordy, Jr., founder of the Motown record label, and writer-producer Nancy Leiviska. He attended junior high school with will.i.am and GoonRock. Redfoo graduated from Palisades Charter High School in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles, California in 1995.

Career

1994–05: Balance Beam

In 1994, Redfoo scored his first major production credit for the song "Back in the Day" by Los Angeles rapper Ahmad and co-produced seven other tracks on Ahmad's self-titled debut album. In 1996 he signed with Bubonic Records and He worked in collaboration with the rapper Dre' Kroon for an album together. The album, Balance Beam, was released on October 10, 1997. Redfoo and Kroon released two singles: "Life Is a Game Of Chess" and "The Freshest". In 1999 he collaborated in the song "Duet" of the band The Black Eyed Peas, from the album Behind the Front. He also produced Focused Daily of Defari. In 2004 Figgkidd released "I Gotta Know" as single, featured vocals of Redfoo and Tech N9ne. The song peaked at number 50 in Australia.

LMFAO

LMFAO was an American hip hop-electronic dance music duo consisting of uncle and nephew Redfoo and SkyBlu. LMFAO's members were descendants of Motown Records founder Berry Gordy, Jr. RedFoo and SkyBlu grew up in the affluent Los Angeles neighborhood Pacific Palisades, where they formed the group LMFAO in 2006 and later became part of the electro house scene. LMFAO started building a local buzz through its shows and radio play. In 2010, it was featured on David Guetta's smash hit "Gettin' Over You", which charted all over Europe and the U.S., including reaching number one in the UK Singles Chart.

LMFAO is best remembered for its songs "Party Rock Anthem", which reached #1 in the United Kingdom, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, Switzerland, and the United States and "Sexy And I Know It" which reached number one in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United States. "Party Rock Anthem" also reached the top five in Italy and Norway. Worldwide, "Party Rock Anthem" was the third best-selling digital single of 2011 with sales of 9.7 million copies; it is also its biggest throughout its career. "Shuffling" is a reference to a dance style from Melbourne, Australia, hence the song's popularity in the Australian charts. Following the song's release, LMFAO announced that they were on hiatus.
