Son of Albert is the debut and only solo album of Andrew Ridgeley. Originally released in May 1990, Ridgeley's effort was a sharp turn away from his former pop image with Wham! years earlier. Focusing more on guitars and drums, the critical reaction to Ridgeley’s attempt at a solo record was mixed. After rather unimpressive revenue sales from 'Son of Albert', Ridgeley gradually quit playing music professionally.
In addition, two singles from the album, "Red Dress" and "Shake", were released in 1990 with little success. Another song, "Mexico", was scheduled to be released as the album's third single, but was dropped for reasons unknown.
Ridgeley's album is named after himself, as the Son of Albert Ridgeley.
Entertainment Weekly praised the instrumental "verve" of the songs, but criticized for lacking conviction: "Ridgeley seems to have redefined himself as a kick-in-the-pants rock & roller, but his songs still come out sounding like manufactured pop."
All songs arranged and produced by Andrew Ridgeley and Gary Bromham, unless noted otherwise.

The red dress effect is a phenomenon in which people wearing red clothing, such as a red dress, are perceived to be more sexually appealing than they are when wearing other colours. This effect is thought to act subconsciously, although its effect can be large.
In the wild, when many species of non-human primate females become fertile, their estrogen level rises, which causes their blood vessels to open up, leading to redness on the skin, especially near the face, chest and genitalia. This increase in redness has been shown to attract male counterparts, expressed by their increased activity in sex, self-stimulation, and attention towards the females. Therefore, there are reasons to believe of the existence of evolutionary instincts that associate red with fertility.
Folklore, mythology and literature associate red with fertility, and women are thought to have worn the equivalent of a red lipstick as early as 10,000 B.C. and so sexual receptiveness and red may be a result of social conditioning. However, this social conditioning may have originated for biological and evolutionary reasons, and is simply an extension of our primal instincts.
Remember when we'd get together
Burn the candle don't you know
Smoke and drink and live forever
No on e there to tell us no
This time I'm gonna kill that bastard
This time I'm not gonna miss~ this time I'm not gonna miss
This time there ain't no doubt about it
Let me be quite clear on this
Out the back and down the alley
Gone to get your bucket spiked
Come back when you think you need me
Come back any time you like
Where'd you get that red dress
Where'd you get that red dress
Yes I'm drunk but damn you're ugly
Tell you one thing yes I will
Tomorrow morning I'll be sober
You'll be just as ugly still
Where'd you get that red dress
I don't know what you got going on
But You know I never seen you with that red dress on
Tell me where'd you get that red dress
Watching out the kitchen window
Right here in this old brown chair
Stack the empties on the table
Toss 'em down the basement stairs
Where'd you get that red dress
Where'd you get that red dress
Remember when we'd get together
Burn the candle don't you know
Smoke and drink and live forever
