Red Hot + Indigo is the 13th entry from the Red Hot AIDS benefit series of compilation albums produced by Paul Heck. It marks the tenth anniversary of the Red Hot Organization (RHO), an international organization which uses mass media as a fundraising tool for its efforts at increasing public AIDS awareness.
As with a trio of earlier entries from the series (Red Hot + Blue, Red Hot + Rio and Red Hot + Rhapsody), Red Hot + Indigo is a tribute to the legacy of one of the greatest composers of the twentieth century — Duke Ellington.
It also marked the return to the creation of music-themed releases, following the detour release of 1999's spoken word album, Optic Nerve — the tribute to artist-activist, David Wojnarowicz. (Due to the focus of this release, it is not considered part of the series.)
In conjunction with the release of Indigo, Amazon.com hosted a star-studded RHO Benefit Auction, which ran from February 28 until April 11, 2001. The event featured rare RHO memorabilia and the work of Rolling Stone photographer Mark Seliger. Items auctioned at the event include signed proofs of Seliger's work, along with fifty autographed copies of his book and exhibition entitled "Physiognomy: The Mark Seliger Photographs." The books were created exclusively for the RHO, and each contained its own unique set of celebrity signatures.
Red hot may refer to:
Red Hot! is one of the many Sammy Hagar compilation albums from his Capitol Records era. This one compiling material from his two live albums released for the label, All Night Long and Live 1980. Tracks 1-6 were taken from All Night Long and tracks 7-11 were taken from Live 1980.
This compilation does nothing to correct the erred track break from Live 1980. Here though, the song "In The Night", which actually contained the main verse of two simultaneously played tracks, is omitted from this collection. What remains is the rest of "The Danger Zone", which is actually a Gary Pihl keyboard solo. The song "The Danger Zone" as it appears on the Danger Zone album is not actually represented on this, or any, live release.
Red Hot is RuPaul's third official album release. Red Hot consists of a mixture of house, pop, club/dance and R&B songs. It includes the three Top 10 Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart hits, "Looking Good, Feeling Gorgeous", "Workout" and "People Are People". Highlights include, "Are You Man Enough", "Hollywood USA", "Freaky/Kinky" and "Just a Little In & Out".
Fight for the black shark
See what evil brings
Can't you see we're out for blood
Love from a shotgun
License to kill
Can't you see we're out for blood
[Pre-chorus:]
The kids scream in fright through the night
Loving every bite with delight
And we blow out our minds with your truth
And together we stand for the youth
[Chorus:]
Red Hot, Red Hot
To the top, we are
Red hot Shout at the devil
We've laughed at your wars
Can't you see we're out for blood
Run with the pack, now
Always ask for more
Can't you see we're out for blood
[Pre-chorus]
[Chorus]
[Solo]
