Recover (Great White album)

Recover is a cover album released by the American hard rock band Great White in 2002. All of the tracks are covers of songs that the band gained the most influence from. The album was recorded live in studio in November 1989 as a two-track demo. The collection of covers of this album include songs already appeared in other Great White albums, such as the medley "Bitches and Other Women" on ...Twice Shy, "Down at the Doctors" on Hooked and "Ain't No Way to Treat a Lady" on Let It Rock. The covers of "Ready for Love" and "Fire and Water" are notable, as both were made famous by bands with Paul Rodgers as the lead singer. The former song was originally recorded by Mott the Hoople, whose guitarist Mick Ralphs was later in Bad Company and whose lead singer Ian Hunter originally performed "Once Bitten, Twice Shy", a major hit for Great White in 1989. The Dr. Feelgood song "Down at the Doctors" is misspelled in the credits as "Down to the Doctor".

Recover was issued with an altered order of the songs by the label Axe Killer in France in 2002, under the name The Final Cuts and in 2003 by Mausoleum Records with two bonus tracks, under the name Revisiting Familiar Waters.

Automatic Loveletter

Automatic Loveletter was an American rock band formed in Tampa, Florida, in 2005. The band consisted of vocalist and guitarist Juliet Simms, her older brother and lead guitarist Tommy Simms, and drummer Daniel Currier.

History

Automatic Loveletter was formed with Juliet Simms on guitar and lead vocals, Daniel Currier on drums and brother Tommy Simms playing bass and producing, with bassist Sean Noll sitting in on occasion in Tommy's home studio in the Tampa Bay area. The band was first called Stars and Scars and recorded its first rock song together in December 2005, naming the song after the band but written by lead singer Juliet Simms. They also recorded "Tin Lizzy", written by Tommy.

Juliet also finally acoustically laid down all of the songs she had been writing over the last three years for consideration for her first major label album. Signed by Allison Hagendorf now host of Fuse TVs "The Pop tv Show", then working at Epic Records, Juliet went on to form Automatic Loveletter while Epic struggled with the Sony BMG 2005 Payola Scandal and internal problems finally dropping over 70 bands in 2007. With Allison as Juliet's champion, Automatic Loveletter was not dropped but was also not supported for the next year and 1/2 touring in the drummer's Ford Excursion and burning their own yolo copies of their Epic-produced CD with hand painted slip covers to help fund their tours.

Roosevelt (automobile)

Roosevelt was a brand of American automobile that was manufactured by the Marmon Motor Car Company of Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, during the 1929 and 1930 model years.

The Roosevelt was named after President Theodore Roosevelt and designed to be priced as an "affordable" automobile. The Roosevelt was the first automobile in America with a straight-eight engine to be priced under $1,000, with the sedan and coupe selling for $995.

Although the Roosevelt name did not appear for the 1931 range of Marmon models, the car was refined into the new Model 70 Marmon.

One of the unique features of the 29 Roosevelt was the horn button. It served 3 purposes. Push down and it would honk, pull up and it was the starter, and turn it, to turn the head lights on and off. It also had a cameo of Theodore Roosevelt, black and white, on the front top middle of the radiator.

USS Roosevelt (DDG-80) is an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer in service with the United States Navy. USS Roosevelt is the second Flight IIA ship and the last U.S. Navy destroyer to carry the 5 in/54 Mk. 45 mod 2 gun.

History

On 22 October 1996, the Secretary of the Navy, John H. Dalton, announced that the 30th ship of the Arleigh Burke class, would be named Roosevelt. This is the first ship so named to honor both Franklin D. Roosevelt, the 32nd President of the United States and the former First Lady, Eleanor Roosevelt. (The aircraft carrier USS Franklin D. Roosevelt (CV-42) served from 1945–1977 before being scrapped.)

Roosevelt's keel was laid down on 15 December 1997 at Litton Industries' Ingalls Shipbuilding shipyard in Pascagoula, Mississippi. She was launched on 10 January 1999, and christened on 23 January, sponsored by Mrs. Nancy Roosevelt Ireland, granddaughter of the ship's namesakes. The ship was commissioned on 14 October 2000 at Naval Station Mayport in Florida, with CDR Matthew E. Bobola in command.
