Reach (geography)

A reach is a general term for a length of a stream or river, usually suggesting a level, uninterrupted stretch. The beginning and ending points may be selected for geographic, historical or other reasons - and may be based on landmarks such as gauging stations, river miles, natural features, and topography.

A reach may also be an expanse, or widening, of a stream or river channel. This commonly occurs after the river or stream is dammed. A reach is similar to an arm. The term "reach" can also refer to:

Park Jung-suk (StarCraft player)

Park Jung-suk, also known as Reach or [Oops]Reach (born 27 December 1983) is a professional South Korean StarCraft player.

Park, who also goes by the usernames Six_Devil_nO.1, ChoGoSy or TechniCal, is recognized as one of the best Protoss players in the world, an accomplishment for which he has been nicknamed "Hero Toss". He is skillful at macromanagement and does successful psionic storms and dragoon dancing, but plays relatively inconsistently against Zerg. He won the 2002 Sky Ongamenet StarLeague, beating SlayerS `BoxeR` with a 3-1 score. He uses a Logitech optical mini (a gift from his fanclub) and Samsung DT-35 Black keyboard.

Park was the first player to achieve 100 Proleague victories, an accomplishment commemorated when he and Lee Jaedong (the second player to reach that benchmark) formed prints of their mouse-controlling hands in clay in a September 2009 ceremony.

Park is now a coach for League of Legends and Tekken team NaJin e-mFire in Korea.

"Reach" is a song from an American metalcore band Eyes Set to Kill. It was released February 5, 2008 and was the lead single of the band from their debut album Reach. Alexia Rodriguez is now the vocals after Lindsey Vogt left. An acoustic version of the song will be included on Lexia's debut Underground Sounds.

Music video

The music video is shot at an old room of an eerie Victorian home. The video is about a girl (Alexia Rodriguez) who is packing her clothes. There are shots of the band playing the song. She is wondering inside the old house with many light bulbs. She picks her things - a guitar, a bag, and a microphone. In the later part, she's in bed singing this part, "I try to reach you but I fall". When the song is about to finish, she leaves the house with her things and walks down in a car junkyard.

Eratosthenes

Eratosthenes of Cyrene (/ɛrəˈtɒsθəniːz/; Greek: Ἐρατοσθένης, IPA: [eratostʰénɛːs]; c. 276 BC – c. 195/194 BC) was a Greek mathematician, geographer, poet, astronomer, and music theorist. He was a man of learning, becoming the chief librarian at the Library of Alexandria. He invented the discipline of geography, including the terminology used today.

He is best known for being the first person to calculate the circumference of the Earth, which he did by applying a measuring system using stadia, which was a standard unit of measure during that time period. His calculation was remarkably accurate. He was also the first to calculate the tilt of the Earth's axis (again with remarkable accuracy). Additionally, he may have accurately calculated the distance from the Earth to the Sun and invented the leap day. He created the first map of the world incorporating parallels and meridians, based on the available geographical knowledge of the era.

Eratosthenes was the founder of scientific chronology; he endeavored to revise the dates of the chief literary and political events from the conquest of Troy. In number theory, he introduced the sieve of Eratosthenes, an efficient method of identifying prime numbers.

The Geographical Association (GA) is a Sheffield, United Kingdom-based subject association with the objective of furthering the study, learning and teaching of geography. The Geographical Association is wholly independent of state aid.

The Geographical Association is a registered charity (number 1135148) and its core activities are financed by membership subscriptions. Membership is an expression of support and helps the Geographical Association in its key mission to ensure geography continues to contribute effectively to the education of all children and young people. The GA has approximately 6000 personal or institutional members. These include primary and secondary teachers, PGCE students, teacher educators, academics, geography students, infant, primary and secondary schools, colleges, universities, academies, libraries, societies, museums and businesses.
