ReNEW Schools

ReNEW Schools is a charter school management organization in New Orleans, United States. Its headquarters are in the Batiste Cultural Arts Academy school facility, in the former Live Oak Elementary School in the Irish Channel neighborhood. ReNEW is a charter management organization that specializes in acquiring low performing schools.

Around 2009 Live Oak Elementary School was performing so poorly that Paul Vallas, the head of the Recovery School District (RSD), gave the school to the ReNEW.

Renew

Renew is a European four-year project (2004 - 2007) to prove different concepts of fuel production from biomass. Established and funded by the European Unions Sixth Framework Programme in January 2004, the Renew consortium consisted of 33 partners from 9 European countries. More than half of the partners are industrial enterprises, remaining are research and development institutes, with the special expertise needed to perform the individual R&D tasks.

The project divided into six sub-projects, four of which were dedicated to the optimisation and analysis of the fuel production process and production routes for biofuels from lignocellulosic feedstock, also known as second generation biofuel.

Renew (album)

Renew is the sixth full-length studio album released by American band The Badlees. It was released on S.A.M. Records in June 2002 and was the first new album by the band in three years.

Background

Following the departure of longtime manager Terry Selders the beginning of 2000, The Badlees had a bit of inner turmoil and various members of the band focused on "side" projects, rather than anything new by the band. In early 2002, a charitable event would provide the perfect opportunity for The Badlees to come back together and make music once again as a band. Karen Greenberg Revit was a friend of band who died of leukemia in 1998, at the young age of 33. Soon thereafter, a benefit concert was held in her honor, which had since become an annual event. In 2002, Concert for Karen IV was organized and the Badlees decided to do something special.

The band got together at Saturation Acres for this cause that they believed in and recorded four songs for an EP to be released in conjunction with the live event. At first, they were unsure if some of their recent differences would be an impediment to this goal, but within fifteen minutes of playing, they all felt at home with each other. As vocalist Pete Palladino put it at the time; "I think everybody at that point had just let it all go. All of those hang-ups and baggage that we carried around from all of those years were let go, and we just accepted each other -.and it was a great feeling."

ReNew

ReNew magazine (currently subtitled ReNew: technology for a sustainable future) is an Australian magazine covering domestic renewable energy technologies and sustainable culture. Originally a small magazine, printed and distributed locally in Melbourne, it was first published by the Alternative Energy Co-operative in 1980 as Soft Technology: Alternative Energy in Australia. Although it sold for the high cover price of $0.85, the magazine's circulation increased so rapidly that by issue 35, published in February 1991, it included a full colour cover. The price was increased from $2.50 to $3 and national distribution rights secured for issue 40, published in June the following year. A total of 13,000 copies were printed. The magazine was renamed, after much deliberation, under the present title in 1996.
