Rayan

Rayan or Rayyan is a popular name of multiple origins like Persian, Indian, Arabic, English and Israeli. In Persian, it means "The wise", In Sanskrit (Indian) it means king, noble or prince. Rayan is an old english name which means brilliant.Some also believe that "Rayan" was a name given to the 7 "prophets" in the Zoroastrian religion. According to Arabic tradition 'Ar-Rayan' refers to a door leading to paradise or heaven's gate. This door is particularly kept for people who fast the month of Ramadan.

Rayan in Sanskrit means "little prince" . In India, Rayan refers to a person with authority.. In the Chola, Chera and Pallava dynasties of southern India, the title of Rayan/Rayar was bestowed upon those who had fought valiantly in battle. Some of their descendants carry forth the surname today.During the Mughal period in Bengal the title of Ray Rayan ( pronounced Raay Raayaan ) was bestowed on some faithful nobles ! Ray Rayan could be roughly translated to mean King of Kings. In (Old) Tamil, "Araiyan" means a leader, later on Araiyan was pronounced as arayan and changed to Rayan. Rayan ( pronounced Raayaan )Ghosh or Ayan Ghosh is supposedly the name of Lord Krishna's maternal uncle, brother to Yashoda and husband of Radha ( Radhika ). Some believe that contrary to popular thought Radha actually got married to Sri Krishna; it was her spiritual shadow ( Chhaya Radha ) who actually married Rayan Ghosh or Rayan Gopa while the real Radha married her only true love Sri Krishna.
