RAR (file format)

RAR is a proprietaryarchive file format that supports data compression, error recovery and file spanning. It was developed by a Russian software engineer, Eugene Roshal (the name RAR stands for Roshal ARchive) and the RAR software is licensed by win.rar GmbH.

File format

The filename extensions used by RAR are .rar for the data volume set and .rev for the recovery volume set. Previous versions of RAR split large archives into several smaller files, creating a "multi-volume archive". Numbers were used in the file extensions of the smaller files to keep them in the proper sequence. The first file used the extension .rar, then .r00 for the second, and then .r01, .r02, etc.

RAR compression applications and libraries (including GUI based WinRAR application for Windows, console rar utility for different OSes and others) are proprietary software, to which Alexander L. Roshal, the elder brother of Eugene Roshal, owns the copyright. Version 3 of RAR is based on Lempel-Ziv (LZSS) and prediction by partial matching (PPM) compression, specifically the PPMd implementation of PPMII by Dmitry Shkarin.

6th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment

6th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (6 RAR) is a motorised infantry battalion of the Australian Army. It was originally raised in Brisbane, Queensland, on 6 June 1965 and has since then served in a number of overseas deployments and conflicts including South Vietnam, East Timor, Iraq and Afghanistan. During the Vietnam War the battalion earned a US Presidential Unit Citation from the United States, when members from 'D' Company participated in the Battle of Long Tan on 18–19 August 1966. The battalion is currently based at Gallipoli Barracks in Brisbane and forms part of the 7th Brigade.

Formation

6 RAR was raised on 6 June 1965 at Alamein Barracks at Enoggera in Brisbane, Queensland, when a cadre of officers and non-commissioned officers (NCOs) and two rifle companies were transferred from 2 RAR to form the nucleus of the new battalion. The battalion was then brought up to full strength when an intake of 250 national servicemen marched-in in September 1965. The battalion's complement of platoon commanders was rounded out shortly after this with the arrival of six Scheyville graduates.

This Is What the Truth Feels Like

This Is What the Truth Feels Like is the upcoming third studio album by American singer and songwriter Gwen Stefani. It is scheduled to be released on March 18, 2016, by Interscope Records. Initially, the album was scheduled to be released in December 2014 with Benny Blanco being the executive producer and the songs "Baby Don't Lie" and "Spark the Fire" being released as singles. However, after the underperformance of both songs on the charts and the writer's block Stefani suffered, she scrapped the whole record in favor of starting again.

Inspired by the end of her marriage and the roller coaster of emotions she experienced during the time, Stefani returned to feel inspired and started writing new and meaningful songs. With the help of producers J.R. Rotem, Mattman & Robin and Greg Kurstin, as well as songwriters Justin Tranter and Julia Michaels, Stefani wrote the whole album in a few months and described it as a "breakup record", with the songs having a "sarcastic" and dark-humor vibe, as well as being real, joyful, and happy.

Rare is the eighth studio album by British rock band Asia, released in 2000. It is completely instrumental, and the only performers on this CD are John Payne and Geoff Downes. Tracks 1–16 were created for David Attenborough's nature film, "Salmon: Against the Tides", and 17–22 for an unreleased CD Rom video game.Rare is Asia's first studio album not titled with a word beginning and ending with the letter 'a'.
