RANIA (Hangul: 라니아, stylized as Rania or RaNia, shortened from Regeneration Idol of Asia) is a South Korean girl group formed by DR Music in 2011. The group was initially produced by American Teddy Riley with their first debut single "DR Feel Good" in 2011. The group composed of six (formerly debuted with eight members) members: Di, T-ae, Xia, Hyeme, Seulji and Alex. Although the group is South Korean, former member Joy is Thai descent and Riko is Japanese descent while current member Alex is African-American descent.
RANIA was originally set to debut in mid 2010 as the third generation of Baby V.O.X. However their record company DR Music decided to rebrand them as a new group named RANIA with eight members: Riko, T-ae, Xia, Saem, Joy, Lucy (later known as Jooyi) and Sarah. T-ae, Riko and Saem were chosen to star alongside former 2PM member Jay Park in his movie Hype Nation, causing DR Music to push back the group's debut. At the beginning of 2011, Sarah made her decision to leave the group and was replaced by Chinese trainee Yijo.
Ranya (Kurdish: Ranya, Arabic: رانية) is a town located in Iraqi Kurdistan, 130 kilometres (81 mi) northwest of Sulaymaniyah. The population of this city was involved in the revolutionary movement of Kurdish people from the war against the British Empire invasion during Şêx Mehmud's government, the Eylûl revolution, and the uprising which broke out in this city on 5 March 1991. Consequently, it acquired the name of 'the gate of uprising'. The city includes a number of tourist sites, notably the shore of the Derbendi, the area around the Reşemêrg spring, the Kwerakani spring which runs from the Central mosque through Ranyae's main bazaar Girdedême hill and Bêtwate, the villages in the Dola Raqa valley. Ranya is surrounded by three mountain ranges, the Kewarash, the Hajila and the Asos. Lake Dukan, created by the construction of a hydro-electric dam, is near the town. Ranya neighbourhoods include Qelat, Reşemêrg, Gilîincan, Sera, Rizgarî, Raperîn, Andazyaran, Azadî 1, Azadî 2, Kêwereş, Qule،Mamostayan, Nawroz, and Fermanberan. +/-, or Plus/Minus, is an American indietronic band formed in 2001. The band makes use of both electronic and traditional instruments, and has sought to use electronics to recreate traditional indie rock song forms and instrumental structures. The group has released two albums on each of the American indie labels Teenbeat Records and Absolutely Kosher, and their track "All I do" was prominently featured in the soundtrack for the major film Wicker Park. The group has developed a devoted following in Japan and Taiwan, and has toured there frequently. Although many artists append bonus tracks onto the end of Japanese album releases to discourage purchasers from buying cheaper US import versions, the overseas versions of +/- albums are usually quite different from the US versions - tracklists can be rearranged, artwork with noticeable changes is used, and tracks from the US version can be replaced as well as augmented by bonus tracks.
