Randy Wayne White

Randy Wayne White (born 1950) is an American writer of crime fiction and non-fiction adventure tales. He has written New York Times best-selling novels and has received awards for his fiction and a television documentary. He is best known for his series of crime novels featuring the retired NSA agent Doc Ford, a marine biologist living on the Gulf Coast of southern Florida. White has contributed material on a variety of topics to numerous magazines and has lectured across the United States. A resident of Southwest Florida since 1972, he currently lives on Pine Island, where he is active in South Florida civic affairs and with the restaurant Doc Ford's Sanibel Rum Bar & Grill on nearby Sanibel Island.

Biography

White was born in Ashland, Ohio, and spent his early life on a small farm outside Pioneer, Ohio. His summers were spent in Rockingham, North Carolina, his mother's hometown. In the 1960s his family moved to Davenport, Iowa, where White attended Davenport Central High School and competed in baseball, football, and springboard diving. After graduating in 1968, he spent time in travel before settling in Southwest Florida in 1972. The Vietnam War was raging during those years and he performed no military service according to his own bio. After "traveling" for five years after high school, White worked for the Fort Myers News-Press for four years during which time he obtained a captain's license. He then bought a used charter boat and operated as a light-tackle fishing guide at the Tarpon Bay Marina on Sanibel Island for thirteen years.

Wayne White

Wayne Andrew White (born 22 September 1985 in Derby) is an English cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-pace bowler. He played for Derbyshire until the end of the 2008 season. He was released and Leicestershire signed him on trial. He impressed in pre-season and was subsequently signed.

White made his Second XI Championship debut for Derbyshire against Lancashire's Second XI, making his first appearance as the eleventh man from twelve, as Zimbabwean Test cricketer Travis Friend was to retire hurt in the first innings.

White played consistently for the Second XI in 2005, and played his first match for the senior Derbyshire team in September 2005, just following the end of the Second XI Championship season. In the second innings of his first match, lower order and tailend batsmen Ant Botha and Nick Walker made 156* and 79 respectively, culminating in a ninth-wicket partnership for the team of 133.

White made his only appearance for the first team of the 2006 season on the last day, picking up a four-wicket haul in his first innings.

Wayne White (born September 17, 1957 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA) is an American artist, art director, puppeteer, set designer, animator, cartoonist and illustrator.

Biography

Youth and early career

After graduating from Hixson High School in Chattanooga, Tennessee (1975) and Middle Tennessee State University (BFA, 1979), White went to New York City (1980) and worked as a cartoonist and illustrator for a number of publications including The East Village Eye, Raw, The New York Times, and The Village Voice.

In 1986 he worked on Pee-wee's Playhouse where his work for his set and puppet designs won three Emmy awards; he also supplied a number of voices on the show. Other television credits include production and set design for Shining Time Station, Riders in the Sky, The Weird Al Show and Beakman's World.

He art directed two seminal music videos, Peter Gabriel's "Big Time" in 1986, for which he won a Billboard award for best Art Direction in a music video, and in 1996 he designed all the Georges Méliès-inspired sets for the award-winning video for the Smashing Pumpkins "Tonight, Tonight".

Randy Wayne Frederick (born August 7, 1981) is an American actor. Born Randy Wayne Frederick, Randy Wayne was born and raised in Moore, Oklahoma. He attended Moore High School and Campbellsville University.

Career

He appeared on the 2002 season of the British reality show Shipwrecked, which led to guest appearances on the television shows The Closer, Huff, NCIS, Jack & Bobby, and Numb3rs as well as a series regular role as the not-so-bright teenager Jeff Fenton on the 2006 ABC sitcom Sons & Daughters. In 2006, Wayne starred as Robbie Zirpollo in the movie The Surfer King.

He is most famous for his portrayal of Luke Duke in the movie The Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning. Since then he has starred in numerous independent features including the gay-themed drama Dream Boy, Grizzly Park, and Foreign Exchange. He also portrayed Michael in The Haunting of Molly Hartley, The Last Hurrah, and Ghost Town (a 2009 Syfy Channel horror film, not to be confused with the 2008 Ricky Gervais film of the same name). He starred in the lead role of Jake Taylor in To Save a Life, which was released to theaters on January 22, 2010. Wayne also starred as Duffy in the movie Frat Party.

Randy Wayne (biologist)

Randy O. Wayne is a plant cell biologist at Cornell University notable for his work on plant development. In particular, along with his colleague P. K. Hepler, Wayne established the powerful role of calcium in regulating plant growth; accordingly, his 1985 article Calcium and plant development was cited by at least 405 subsequent articles to earn the coveted "Citation Classic" award from Current Contents magazine and has been cited by hundreds more since 1993. He is an acknowledged authority on how plant cells sense gravity through pressure, on the water permeability of plant membranes,light microscopy, as well as the effects of calcium on plant development. He wrote two textbooks including Plant Cell Biology: From Astronomy to Zoology and Light and Video Microscopy. In 2010, he proposed a theory of light which contradicts relativity.
