Lynching

Lynching is an extrajudicial punishment by an informal group. It is most often used to characterize informal public executions by a mob, often by hanging, in order to punish an alleged transgressor, or to intimidate a minority group. It is an extreme form of informal group social control such as charivari, skimmington, riding the rail, and tarring and feathering, but with a drift toward the public spectacle. Lynchings have been more frequent in times of social and economic tension, and have often been a means for a dominant group to suppress challengers. However, it has also resulted from long-held prejudices and practices of discrimination that have conditioned societies to accept this type of violence as normal practices of popular justice. Though racial oppression and the frontier mentality in the United States have given lynching its current familiar face, execution by mob justice is not exclusive to North America, but it is also found around the world as vigilantes act to punish people behaving outside of commonly acceptable boundaries. Indeed, instances of it can be found in societies long antedating European settlement of North America.

Lynch Mob (album)

Lynch Mob is the second album by American hard rock band Lynch Mob, and the first album to feature vocalist Robert Mason following the departure of Oni Logan. Logan was fired shortly after touring in support of the band's first album due to his life style that negatively impacted his ability to perform. There were also rumors that he had quit the band while touring in support of Queensrÿche, because he felt intimidated opening up for singer Geoff Tate. In a 1992 interview with Headbangers Ball, Lynch talked highly of Mason and stating, "Mason tracked us down, saying he had to be the singer for the band. He knew he was right for the group. He flew himself out. He was very much the opposite of the last singer. He's very dedicated, has a lot of confidence in his abilities and can definitely take control of an audience".

Due to the rise of the grunge movement and changing musical trends, the album resulted in poorer sales figures than the previous album. However, it has received some positive critical reviews. The album also includes a cover of "Tie Your Mother Down", a song originally released by the British rock band Queen in 1976.

Lynch Mob (band)

Lynch Mob is an American hard rock band featuring former Dokken guitarist George Lynch, who has been the band's only permanent member.

1989 Formation

Lynch Mob was formed in 1989, from the remains of Lynch's former band, Dokken. The band original line-up also features Dokken's drummer, Mick Brown. The first Lynch Mob album was released in 1990, titled Wicked Sensation, and it is highly regarded as the group's best work.

Many feel that songs such as the title track, "River of Love," "She's Evil But She's Mine," and "For a Million Years" would have done very well in the 80's hair metal scene. However, with the waning popularity of "hair metal," the album didn't make much of an impact but reached gold status in the United States. Vocalist Oni Logan was fired shortly after the tour, as his life style had negatively impacted his ability to perform. But according to a Rockshowmagazine interview with former bassist Anthony Esposito he explained that since Logan wasn't a great performer live Lynch decided to go with a different singer on their follow up, self-titled album.

Lynch Mob

Music: Lynch

Just a habit on her knees at night
...screams and she treats you right
Heart so warm and oh so cold
One down, one more story told, yeah
Strange enchanted love
Icy hand and a velvet glove
What can you hold when your day is done
Count your tears and pray for sun
Cold is the heart with no love
When it lies deep inside you
Cold is the heart with no love
As she sits on the face of the world
Like the daily bump and grind
What's your price
For a chance on the mainline
Checks desires..be last
Silent eyes of a checkered past
Is your love the test of time
Faded days that'll ease your mind
What can you do when you're near the end
Try so hard but you can't pretend
Cold is the heart with no love
When it lies deep inside you
Cold is the heart with no love
As she sits on the face of the world
Strange enchanted love
Icy hand and a velvet glove
What can you hold when your day is done
Count your tears and pray for sun
Cold is the heart with no love
When it lies deep inside you
Cold is the heart with no love
As it sits in the world
Cold is the heart with no love
When it lies deep inside you
Cold is the heart with no love
