Raghav Juyal

Raghav Juyal (Hindi: राघव जुयाल) (born 10 July 1991) is an Indian dancer,choreographer and actor. He is renowned as the King of Slow Motion for his surreal dance moves in slow motion style and for his flawless reinvention of the Slow Motion Walk. His stage name Crockroaxz best describes his dancing style which is an amalgamation of being powerful like a crocodile and creepy like a cockroach. Raghav has become a youth icon inspiring dancers, who gleefully imitate his trademark moves and dance style, popularly known as Crock-style which means the mixing of Crocodile and Cockroach.

He rose to fame after being a finalist in Zee TV dance reality shows like Dance India Dance (Season 3), as a skipper for the team Raghav Ke Rockstars in DID Li'l Masters 2 and Dance Ke Superkids.. His team was declared the winner in Dance Ke Superkids under his captainship.

Career

Dance India Dance (Season 3)

Raghav became popular when his audition video went viral on YouTube, and was back on public demand. He received individual popularity via the show Dance India Dance 3 (2012) aired on Zee TV. He dubbed himself as Crockroaxz and was not professionally trained by anyone prior to coming on the show. Raghav showcased a new dance style but wasn't selected in the Top 18 by the Grand Master in Mega Audition. Later, on public demand, Grand Master Mithun Chakraborty made an exception in the format by reintroducing him on the show as his Trump Card in the Wild Card round. Raghav Mathur (born April 2, 1979), known professionally as Raghav, is an independent Canadian singer/songwriter. He has released three studio albums: the debut Storyteller in 2004, Identity in 2009 and The Phoenix in 2012. His most known commercial success was with "Angel Eyes" which peaked at number 7 in the UK in 2005. His singles "So Confused", "Can't Get Enough" and "It Can't Be Right" also reached the UK top ten in 2004. Raghav continues to have success on Canadian charts in 2010s with subsequent hits like "So Much" with Kardinal Offishall, "Fire", "Top of the World", "Woohoo" and "Until the Sun Comes Up" (featuring Indian actor Abhishek Bachchan and US artist Nelly).

Beginnings

Raghav was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada to Hindu parents from India. His parents soon moved to Calgary and Fort McMurray, Alberta, where he grew up. Raghav attended Sir Winston Churchill High School, at the age of 15, music became a heavy feature in his life and alongside the Indian influences at home, became heavily influenced by R&B. By the time he was 16, he wrote a song that was awarded by the National Songwriters Association of U.S.A. At 17, he moved to Los Angeles, California, United States to develop his vocal skills by Seth Riggs who has trained, amongst others, Madonna, Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder. A year later he moved to Liverpool, England where he studied at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts. During his time in college, he joined R&B band 11/7 which was nominated for a Mobo Award for best unsigned artist.

Raghuvaṃśa dynasty

Raghuwamsa or Raghu race is a legendary lineage of warrior kings tracing its ancestry to the Hindu solar deity Surya. Kalidasa's famous work, Raghuvaṃśa depicts the legend of this race. The progenitor of the lineage was Raghu, son of the emperor Dileepa. Raghu was father of Aja, and thus grandfather of Dasaratha, and great-grandfather of Rama. They are thus of the Raghuvamsa ("dynasty of Raghu") lineage.
