Raffaele Baldassarre (born 23 September 1956) is an Italian politician and member of the European Parliament for the European People's Party. He was born in Lecce.

Controversy [link]

On 24 June 2013, the Dutch news blog GeenStijl posted a video in which Baldassarre was seen checking in at the European Parliament to claim a 304 euro daily expenses fee, leaving immediately afterwards. When confronted about his doings, Baldassarre became aggressive.^[1] This expenses fee, the so-called "subsistance allowance"^[2] for MEPs, is controversial because it is paid without any proof of expenditure.^[3]
