Radha Krishna

Radha Krishna (IAST rādhā-kṛṣṇa, Sanskrit राधा कृष्ण) are collectively known within Hinduism as the combination of both the feminine as well as the masculine aspects of God. Krishna is often referred as svayam bhagavan in Gaudiya Vaishnavism theology and Radha is Krishna's supreme beloved. With Krishna, Radha is acknowledged as the Supreme Goddess, for it is said that she controls Krishna with Her love. It is believed that Krishna enchants the world, but Radha "enchants even Him. Therefore She is the supreme goddess of all. Radha Krishna".

While there are much earlier references to the worship of this form of God, it is since Jayadeva Goswami wrote a famous poem Gita Govinda in the twelfth century of the Common Era, that the topic of the spiritual love affair between the divine Krishna and his devotee Radha, became a theme celebrated throughout India. It is believed that Krishna has left the circle of the rasa dance to search for Radha. The Chaitanya school believes that the name and identity of Radha are both revealed and concealed in the verse describing this incident in Bhagavata Purana. It is also believed that Radha is not just one cowherd maiden, but is the origin of all the gopis, or divine personalities that participate in the rasa dance.

Radha

Radha (IAST: Rādhā, Hindi: राधा ), also called Radhika, Radharani and Radhikarani, is a Hindu goddess who is almost always depicted alongside Krishna and features prominently within the theology of today's Vallabha and Gaudiya Vaishnava sects, which regards Radha as the original Goddess or Shakti. Radha is also the principal god of worship in the Nimbarka Sampradaya, as Nimbarka, the founder of the tradition, declared that Radha and Krishna together constitute the absolute truth. Radha is the most important gopi in Raas (Special kind of dance) with Lord Krishna. Radha is often referred to as Rādhārānī or "Radhika" in speech, prefixed with the respectful term 'Srimati' by devout followers. Gaudiya Vaishnavas, believe that in fact Radha is the original source from whom Goddess Lakshmi emanated.

The term comes from Proto-Indo-European *rad, compare Proto-Slavic radъ (with its Czech descendant rád - glad), Persian rād (generous, liberal).

Radha Cuadrado

Radha Cuadrado (born December 13, 1976), popularly known as Radha Tinsay or simply as RADHA, is a Filipino singer and songwriter best known as an original member of the international hip-hop group Kulay (previously known as "Boom") and was also part of the group "14-K". After leaving Kulay, she pursued a solo career and performed in theater and lounge shows. She later starred in the TV series Diva on GMA 7. Most recently, she took part in the first season of The Voice of the Philippines.

Radha's influences include Aretha Franklin, Mary J. Blige, Stevie Wonder, Billie Holiday, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Chaka Khan, Prince, Al Green, and she frequently covers their songs in her shows. She started her singing career at the age of five. Radha has a Dramatic Coloratura Mezzo soprano vocal range.

Career

She had several stints on television and stage but her big break came at the age of fifteen when she joined as lead singer of the internationally acclaimed group Kulay, which won countless awards in the Philippines and went on an international tour all over the UK, Germany, Italy, and Denmark which put them on the dance charts in local UK radio and Billboard. In 1999 Pepsi Philippines launched their ad campaign called "Ask for more" and chose Kulay to be their endorsers.

Radha (actress)

Udaya Chandrika Nair, known by her stage name Radha, is an Indian film actress known for her works predominantly in Tamil cinema and Telugu cinema. She has also starred in few Malayalam and Kannada films. She was one of the mainstream actresses for a decade from 1981 to 1991 and has acted in 100 movies. In 1995, she received the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Tamil for her work in Mudhal Mariyathai. Her elder sister, Ambika, is also a former actress. Both of them acted in a number of south Indian films in 1980s together and have owned a movie studio, called "ARS Studios", which they have converted into a Hotel Complex in 2013. She ventured into Television as a Judge in STAR Vijay's Jodi Number One Season 6, 7 & 8.

Personal life

Nair was born at Kallara village in Trivandrum district. She has two elder sisters, Ambika and Mallika as well as two younger brothers, Arjun and Suresh. Radha married a business man, Hotelier Rajashekharan Nair in 1991 and settled in Mumbai. She has three children: son Vignesh Nair, and daughters Karthika Nair and Thulasi Nair. For the past 24 years they have owned a chain of restaurants in Mumbai. They have two hotels called UDS in Kovalam, Kerala, which have won the best coastal beach resort award. They also own a restaurant in the UK named "Rock and Role Kitchen" (RRK). Karthika started her career as an actress at age of 17 with the Telugu film Josh in 2009 while Thulasi started her acting career at age of 14 with the Maniratnam film Kadal in 2012.

Krishna

Krishna (/ˈkrɪʃnə/; Sanskrit: कृष्ण, Kṛṣṇa in IAST, pronounced [ˈkr̩ʂɳə]) is a Hindu deity, worshipped across many traditions of Hinduism in a variety of different perspectives. Krishna is recognized as the complete and eighth avatar of the God Vishnu or as the Supreme God in his own right. Krishna is one of the most widely revered and popular of all Hindu deities.

Krishna is known by many names such as Kishan, Makhanchor, and Kanha. Krishna is often described and portrayed as an infant eating butter, a young boy playing a flute as in the Bhagavata Purana, a young man along with Radha or as an elder giving direction and guidance as in the Bhagavad Gita. The stories of Krishna appear across a broad spectrum of Hindu philosophical and theological traditions. They portray him in various perspectives: a god-child, a prankster, a model lover, a divine hero, and the Supreme Being. The principal scriptures discussing Krishna's story are the Mahabharata, the Harivamsa, the Bhagavata Purana, and the Vishnu Purana.

Krishna district

Krishna district is an administrative district in the Coastal Andhra region of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Machilipatnam is the administrative headquarters and Vijayawada is the most populated city in the district. It has an area of 8,727 km² (3,370 sq mi) and had a population of 45,29,009 as per 2011 census of India. It is bounded by West Godavari on the east, Bay of Bengal on the South, Guntur and Nalgonda districts in the west and a portion of it also borders with the state of Telangana.

Guntur district was separated from Krishna in 1904 to form Krishna district which was further divided in 1925, to Krishna and West Godavari districts.Krishna district is the most developed district in Andhra Pradesh.

Etymology

Krishna district, with its district headquarters at Machilipatnam was formerly called Machlipatnam district. Later it was renamed as Krishna district, by adding certain Taluks of the abolished Guntur District in 1859 with Machilipatnam with its head. It was named after the Krishna River, the third longest river in India. The river flows through the state of Andhra Pradesh before it empties itself into Bay of Bengal, near Hamsaladevi village of Krishna district.
