DYKU

DYKU, branded as Mellow 887, is a music FM radio station owned by FBS Radio Network Inc. in the Philippines. The station's studio and transmitter are located in Iloilo City.

From 1996 to 2000, it was branded as Mellow Touch 88.7. In 2000, it was rebranded as Radio One 88.7. Around May 2009, Radio One reduced its power and transmitter antenna into 1-bay resulting in a weak signal in most parts of the city. Survey showed that Radio One signal is only up to Pavia town. Since January 2010, it went off the air due to transmitter problems. In July 2010, it revived as Mellow 887. The station is broadcasting with the power of 300 watts from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm only, but plans to extend to 12:00 am in the next few months. This station instead of relay.

Radio One (Lebanon)

Radio One Lebanon is a radio station that serves Lebanon, broadcasting on the FM band. This station is licensed to broadcast all over Lebanon, from studios in Beit Meri. It was the first radio station to play English and international music in the country of Lebanon.

History

Radio One was established in 1983 by Raymond Gaspar, Chairman and CEO. The station plays international music 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with a line-up of national and international shows, such as Gavin Ford in The Morning, and The Maximus Experience. The station used to air the American Top 40 and On Air with Ryan Seacrest (now aired on rival station Virgin Radio Lebanon). The owner of the radio station, Raymond Gaspar climbed up a 30 ft antenna to place the first receiver of the radio station.

RTÉ Radio 1

RTÉ Radio 1 (Irish: RTÉ Raidió 1) is the principal radio channel of Irish public-service broadcaster Raidió Teilifís Éireann and is the direct descendant of Dublin radio station 2RN, which began broadcasting on a regular basis on 1 January 1926. The station is a rare modern example of a mixed radio channel, offering a wide spectrum of programming which is mainly speech-based but also includes a fair amount of music.

The total budget for the station in 2010 was €18.4 million. It is the most listened to radio station in Ireland.

History

The Department of Posts and Telegraphs opened 2RN, the first Irish radio station, on 1 January 1926. Station 6CK, a Cork relay of 2RN, joined the Dublin station in 1927, and a high-power transmitter at Athlone in County Westmeath opened in 1932. From the latter date the three stations became known as Radio Athlone, later being renamed Radio Éireann ("Irish Radio" / "Radio of Ireland") in 1937. Like most small European national stations at that time, Radio Éireann attempted to satisfy all tastes on a single channel. It broadcast a mixed schedule of light entertainment and heavier fare, Irish language programming, and talks. Radio Éireann also carried sponsored programmes, often produced by Leonard Plugge's International Broadcasting Company, which tended to be more popular than programming made directly by Radio Éireann itself.
