    Five Star

    Five Star (also styled as 5 Star) are a British pop/R&B group, formed in 1983. Comprising siblings Stedman, Lorraine, Denise, Doris and Delroy Pearson, they were known for their flamboyant image, matching costumes and heavily choreographed dance routines. Between 1985 and 1988, Five Star had four top 20 albums and 15 Top 40 singles in the UK, including the top 10 hits "System Addict" (1986), "Can't Wait Another Minute" (1986), "Find the Time" (1986), "Rain or Shine" (1986), "Stay Out of My Life" (1987) and "The Slightest Touch" (1987). They won the 1987 Brit Award for Best British Group.

    Biography

    The five-piece group of siblings from Romford, Essex were masterminded by their father and manager, Buster Pearson, in the style of The Jackson 5. He was a former recording artist and session musician who had worked with Wilson Pickett and had set up Tent Records Ltd in 1982. Their debut single was released on Tent in 1983 and although it did not chart, it gave them TV exposure and a record deal with RCA Records (with future releases being joint Tent/RCA releases). After two unsuccessful singles in 1984, their chart breakthrough came in 1985 with the release of "All Fall Down" which peaked at number 15 on the UK Singles Chart and number 65 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US where it also reached the top twenty of the Hot R&B Singles chart and the top ten of the Hot Dance/Disco chart.

    Five Star (film)

    Five Star is an Indian Tamil film released in 2002.It was directed by Susi Ganeshan.

    Plot

    The story focuses on five friends Prabu, Elango, Sundar, Indra and Priya at the Madras Institute of Technology, who want to remain friends throughout their lifespan and hope to join the same company after graduation. During a vacation Elango, goes home where he is forced to get married to his rustic cousin, Eshwari by his tough disciplinarian father. Once back to college he hides the fact about his marriage to his friends but later the marriage becomes public when relatives of Eshwari come to visit Elango. While their dream to work together becomes true, Elango alone gets a transfer to Bombay. The friends fight but later reunites back. Before Elango goes Bombay the friends force him to visit his wife and put him on a train. But Elango manages to get off the train and from there loses touch with his friends and family in the village.

    The friends part and six years later Prabu and Sundar come back to join Priya and Indra in Chennai. On the train journey back, Prabu meet Elango's wife Eashwari. Prabu falls in love with Eashwari without realizing who she is. Eventually he along with his friends finds out the truth about Eashwari, who is waiting with hopes of her husband to return. The four friends decided to help Eshwari find the whereabouts of Elango. One day Prabu finds out that Elango might be in London. Prabu decides to go to London. One fine day he finds Elango but to his shocks Elango has a kid and is married to an English woman. Meanwhile, in India Elango's dad commit suicide. Prabu goes back to India and there he comes to know that everyone knows about Elango marriage.

    Five Star (album)

    Five Star a 1990 album by the British pop group of the Five Star. The album was released only in the United States where sales were poor in comparison to earlier releases. The UK release of the album was scrapped after the two lead singles, "Treat Me Like A Lady" and "Hot Love", both failed to make the Top 40. The album was later made available to UK fans as an import only. The Japanese edition of the album has two extended mixes of the singles "Hot Love" and "Treat Me Like A Lady" .

    5Star (styled as 5STAR, formerly styled with an asterisk as 5*) is a British digital television channel owned by Viacom International Media Networks Europe. It is a sister channel of Channel 5. It originally launched as the female-oriented Five Life on 15 October 2006, and was rebranded as Fiver on 28 April 2008 with a revised version of the same concept. The channel later re-branded under its current name on 7 March 2011.

    The channel is available on digital television via Freesat, Freeview, Sky, and Virgin Media, and broadcasts between 09:00 and 04:00.

    History

    2006–08: Five Life

    The channel was intended to be a female-oriented channel with an emphasis on lifestyle programming. Channel 5 announced that programming on launch would include The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Love My Way, Windfall, Angela's Eyes, and a weekday double-bill of the chat show Trisha Goddard. On 16 October 2006, a day following the channel's launch, Australian soap opera Home and Away began airing from episode 4212 (Season 19). New episodes are shown Monday to Friday in a 'First Look' screening with episodes following the Channel 5 airing. A weekly omnibus also airs every Sunday. Repeats of popular female-skewing dramas, both nationally and internationally produced, were soon acquired. Following the channel's launch, a time-shift version of the channel was launched in summer 2007.
