John Connor

John Connor is a fictional character of the Terminator franchise. Created by writer and director James Cameron, the character is first referred to in the 1984 film The Terminator and first appears in its 1991 sequel Terminator 2: Judgment Day initially by Michael Edwards (briefly as the older Connor) and then by teenage actor Edward Furlong throughout the remainder of the film; in addition, Linda Hamilton's real-life son Dalton Abbot played John as a toddler in a dream sequence. The character is subsequently portrayed by 23-year-old Nick Stahl in the 2003 film Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines and by 19-year-old Thomas Dekker in the 2008 television series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. English actor Christian Bale portrays 33-year-old Connor in the film series' fourth installment, Terminator Salvation, and Australian actor Jason Clarke portrays a 44-year-old Connor, who becomes the T-3000 and serves as the antagonist of the film series' fifth installment, Terminator Genisys.

John Connor (baseball)

John Connor (July 1861 – November 24, 1905) was an American Major League Baseball player who pitched a total of 12 games over the course of his two-season career. He had a win–loss record of 2–8 and a 3.81 earned run average in 104 innings pitched. He began his career with the Boston Beaneaters for the 1884 season, later playing for the both the Buffalo Bisons and the Louisville Colonels during the 1885 season. On August 29, 1885, Connor was traded by Louisville to the Chattanooga, Tennessee team of the Southern League for Toad Ramsey. Connor died at the age of 44 in his hometown of Nashua, New Hampshire, and is interred at St. Patrick Cemetery in Hudson, New Hampshire.

  • John Connor (Irish politician)

    John Connor (born 14 February 1944) is a former Irish Fine Gael politician. He was first elected to Dáil Éireann at the 1981 general election as a Fine Gael Teachta Dála (TD) for the Roscommon constituency.

    He lost his seat at the February 1982 general election, but subsequently was nominated by the Taoiseach Garret FitzGerald to the 17th Seanad. He was elected to the Agricultural Panel of the 18th Seanad in 1987. At the 1989 general election he re-gained his Dáil seat for the Roscommon constituency and was re-elected for the new Longford–Roscommon constituency at the 1992 general election. He again lost his Dáil seat at the 1997 general election but was again elected to the Agricultural Panel of the 21st Seanad. At the 2002 general election he failed to get elected to the Dáil and he also lost his Seanad seat.

    In 1999, he was elected to Roscommon County Council, and was re-elected at the 2004 local elections. He did not contest the 2009 local elections.

    John Connor is the Chief Executive Officer of the Climate Institute of Australia, a bi-partisan policy think-tank primarily funded by a private donation.

    Initially trained as a lawyer and working in the Land and Environment Court of NSW he subsequently became a researcher for Peter MacDonald the Independent member for Manly. After that he spent three years running the Nature Conservation Council of NSW and in 1999 he took up the job as Campaigns Director for the Australian Conservation Foundation. He then worked as Campaigns Manager for World Vision, where he also co-convened Make Poverty History Australia. He was appointed CEO of the Climate Institute of Australia in 2007.

    In his time at the Climate Institute Connor has overseen the release of a series of reports on Australia's Climate Change response, including economic modeling on how Australia can reduce emissions and maintain a growing economy, up to date evidence on Australia’s greenhouse pollution profile and analysis of community opinions on climate change and climate change solutions.
