Quest is an award-winning monthly popular science magazine published in Diemen, Netherlands.

History and profile

Quest was launched in February 2004. The magazine is part of Gruner + Jahr and is published by G+J Uitgevers on a monthly basis.

The headquarters of the magazine is in Diemen. The magazine features articles on science and technology with a special reference to nature, health, psychology and history. Target audience of the magazine is people between 20 and 49 years of age. The monthly has several special supplements, Quest Psychologie, Quest Historie, Quest Image and Quest 101.

Karlijn van Overbeek served as the editor-in-chief of the magazine until her death in 2010. Then Thomas Hendriks was appointed to the post.

The magazine is also distributed in Belgium. In 2011 the English version of Quest was launched by Gruner + Jahr in South Africa with the same name. The magazine is published on a bimonthly basis there.

Quest has won the Mercur Magazine Award several times since its start in 2004. The magazine received the award in 2004, in 2007 and in 2009. It was named as the Launch of the Year 2004 and the Magazine of the Year for 2010.

Quest (2006 film)

Quest (Marathi title: Thang) is a 2006 bilingual English and Marathi Indian drama film directed by Amol Palekar, starring Mukta Barve, Rishi Deshpande, Mrinal Kulkarni in lead roles. The film is last part of the trilogy on sexuality, which includes Daayraa (The Square Circle, 1996) and Anahat (Eternity, 2001). It is an urban story of a woman who discovers that her husband is homosexual. It was premiered at the Brisbane International Film Festival (BIFF) on 5 August 2006 .

This is first English language film made by Palekar. Both the version in Marathi and English were shot simultaneously, and the shooting was completed in 25 days.

At the 54th National Film Awards, it won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in English.

Harvest (Neopagan magazine)

Harvest was an American Neopagan magazine, published eight times a year between 1980 and 1992.

History and profile

Harvest began in 1980 as a grassroots, homemade zine. Over its twelve-year publication run it grew to be a 42-page, professionally printed magazine with international distribution and news stand sales. Published out of Southboro, Massachusetts, USA, Harvest served both the New England and International Neopagan communities. In an era before mainstream access to the Internet, and before the creation of the world wide web, Pagan magazines such as Harvest provided crucial opportunities for networking, sharing of information, and the development of the international Neopagan community.

In addition to covering the more common traditions of Neopaganism, such as Wicca, Harvest also gave a forum to some of the emerging Polytheistic Reconstructionist movements. A number of Neopagan authors had their first publication in Harvest, and the letters column provided an active forum for the development of community consensus on terminology and other issues of importance to Neopagans in the '80s and '90s.

Harvest Records is a major record label belonging to Capitol Music Group, originally created by EMI, active from 1969 to present.

History

Harvest Records was created by EMI in 1969 to market progressive rock music and to compete with Philips' Vertigo and Decca's Deram labels, and the independent Island label, initially under the direction of Malcolm Jones. Harvest was distributed in North America by EMI's US arm, Capitol Records. They were the European licensee for the American label Blue Thumb Records from 1969 to 1971.

Focus changed slightly as the 1970s drew to a close, beginning with the signing of post-punk groups Wire, the Saints and the Banned. New wave artists Thomas Dolby and Duran Duran released their debut albums on the label in North America. Iron Maiden's first three albums were also released in the US by the label. Pink Floyd switched to Columbia Records after the release of The Final Cut in 1983.

In the United States, Capitol initially treated Harvest as a separate label that they expected big sales from. After only a few issues, they had few sales to show for their effort and consequently only issued a few releases and numbered them within their standard Capitol LP series (mostly using Harvest for Pink Floyd releases). After this initial short-lived series, Capitol passed on most of the UK Harvest artists.

Harvest (Richard Davis album)

Harvest' is an album by bassist Richard Davis recorded in 1977 but not released on the Muse label until 1979.

Reception

Allmusic awarded the album 3 stars calling it "Most interesting listening for the adventurous jazz lover".
