Queenie Eye

"Queenie Eye" is Paul McCartney, and written by McCartney and producer Paul Epworth. It is the second single from McCartney's solo album New, released in 2013.

McCartney explained that the song name and chorus lyrics were from a children's game he would play when he was young called "Queenie, Queenie, who's got the ball?" (the "Queenie" was alternatively called "Queenie Eye" or "Queenio"), and used the version of the chant he remembered from the game in the song.

Music video

The music video for the song was directed by Simon Aboud, husband of McCartney's daughter Mary. The video is notable for the array of famous people that appear in it including: actors Johnny Depp, George Ezra, Jeremy Irons, Chris Pine, Jude Law, Sean Penn, Alice Eve, actor-comedian James Corden, Meryl Streep, actress-comedian Tracey Ullman, models Kate Moss, Lily Cole, Laura Bailey, singers Jack Savoretti, Gary Barlow, artist Peter Blake, designer Tom Ford, and many others who are shown dancing to the lyrics.

Dickens Hill

Dickens Hill is a fictional prison in the BBC soap opera EastEnders. The prison is part of a storyline that first aired between 1988 and 1989. The storyline centres on the popular character Den Watts and was filmed on location at Dartmoor Prison in Devon. The episodes were shot in a block of intensive filming, over five weeks, but they were worked into regular episodes of EastEnders later on in the year, from September 1988 to February 1989. This was done in order to keep the character Den Watts on-screen after Den's actor, Leslie Grantham, had left the show.

Storyline development

Two of the most successful and popular characters in the history of EastEnders have been pub landlords Den and Angie Watts, played by Leslie Grantham and Anita Dobson. They are original characters who both appear in the very first episode of EastEnders in February 1985, and were largely responsible for attracting the highest episode BARB rating for a UK soap opera, when 30.15 million viewers tuned in on Christmas Day 1986 to witness Den hand Angie divorce papers as a Christmas present. A quarter of a century later, the episode is still the fourth most highly viewed UK programme of all time, coming behind the 1966 World cup final, the funeral of Princess Diana (1997), and a 1969 Royal family documentary.

Queenie, Queenie, who's got the ball?

"Queenie, Queenie, who's got the ball" is a common children's playground game. It is played with a ball by four or more players.

A person is picked to be the "Queenie," and that person turns her back to everyone else. The "Queenie" then throws the ball over her shoulder and one of the other players needs to catch it or pick it up. Everyone, except the "Queenie", puts their hands behind their backs so that the "Queenie" does not know who has the ball. The "Queenie" then turns around and everyone shouts:

The "Queenie" has to guess who has the ball through a process of elimination. If the person with the ball is the last one to be picked, that person becomes the new "queenie." The player must admit to having the ball or will automatically be "out". The player who is the "Queenie" must not look when throwing the ball or the "Queenie" herself will be "out".
